I didn't say come off the bench. He can start, but I would love to see him getting significant burn with the bench unit

Melo could be awesome for us. I admit that, but his track record makes me believe that he is more likely to ruin our team chemistry and park us back in the lottery for the near future.

If Melo is willing to come to Charlotte and we could get him for just Marv & Lamb, however unlikely both of those are to happen, Jordan would overrule the entire front office to make it happen. There's no way he's passing up the massive uptick in jersey and ticket sales. Even if that team could only play .500 basketball, having three big name players in Charlotte after being such an irrelevant team for so long would send Jordan into an infinite fist pump.

I wish that I could argue, but you are probably right.

I'm kinda obsessed with us taking a gamble on a 3/4 like Anthony or Parker to upgrade our offense. I think both would be a great fit for this roster. Jabari is a risk for sure, but fortune favors the bold.

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6911429

CHA out Williams, Lamb, 2018 1st
CHA in Teletovic, Parker, Davis

MIL out Monroe, Henson, Teletovic, Parker
MIL in Lopez, Wade, Aminu

POR out Turner, Aminu, Leonard, Davis, 2018 1st
POR in Monroe, Williams, Grant

CHI out Lopez, Wade, Grant
CHI in Turner, Leonard, Henson, Lamb, CHA 2018 1st, POR 2018 st

We'd have to find a way to dump/move Teletovic next summer, but considering that he's an expiring contract and he can really shoot it I think that would be doable.

I'm sure fans of another team would find fault somewhere in this deal, but I would have to take this gamble from our end and think this looks fairly even for all teams. The only hang up here is whether Milwaukee is willing to use Parker as the main piece for a massive salary dump and get nothing of real value back.

I also think that Monroe should probably stay put and sending Lopez to Portland would be beneficial for both Milwaukee and Portland. Portland doesn't need Monroe, they've already got a younger version of him in Nurkic. Milwaukee could then keep Monroe and let him expire rather than trading for a longer contract.

Trade Marvin for a 3 and d wing, sign Jones to replace him and start frank.

I'd avoid trading Marvin. Perhaps if a C&S Free Agent had been acquired but as of now Marvin's low usage spacing is needed, esp. if/when Frank is injured or slides to C. Instead I'd consider cheapish 3/4 wings who slot between Nic/MKG and Marvin/Frank. Nothing overly fancy but the added versatility indirectly adds depth at 3 positions.

Another option is a spacing PG who effectively slides MCW to a utility guard role. Devin Harris and Delly fit the mold, as do Luke Babbitt and Jared Dudley at 3/4.

I still like the idea of Marvin+1st for Eric Bledsoe and starting and closing with a small-ball lineup of Kemba/Bledsoe/Batum/MKG/Zeller or Howard. One of Kemba/Bledsoe would always be on the court, one of Zeller/Dwight would always be on the court, and we'd still have Frank, Monk, Lamb, Graham, and half of Bledsoe's minutes to split between the remaining 2-4 positions.

Kemba (32)/Bledsoe (16)
Bledsoe (16)/Batum (8)/Lamb (8)/Monk (16)
Batum (24)/Lamb (12)/MKG (12)
MKG (24)/Frank (16)/Zeller (8)
Dwight (28)/Zeller (20)

Kemba, Batum, Bledsoe, MKG all play 32 minutes, Dwight and Zeller each play 28, Lamb plays 20, Monk and Frank play 16. If Frank or Lamb struggle, we have capable 3rd stringers, and I don't think we will ever need to rely on anyone that actually sucks.

In fact, I would still do this deal if Phoenix demanded Lamb, and I would split his 20 minutes between Graham/Bacon and Monk.

I'd rather have Marvin, save the 1st for February if needed, use MCW in inverted lineups, and allow Monk game experience.

It also somewhat corners CHA with inflexible front court PnR dynamics. I'm skeptical Kemba will thrive next to Howard compared to Cody, let alone with MKG @ 4 and the limited possibility of opening the court with Frank at C.

I'm pretty stoked about a second unit with Lamb and Monk as athletic gunners, MCW and Frank playing joint QB with Frank working the perimeter, and Cody doing Cody things.

I have not hitherto been a Lamb supporter, worried about Monk as a defender (and his PT at 19), and disappointed about separating Cody and Nic, but I must say I was guilty of thinking of these guys in individual terms not as a unit so your post opened my eyes to the possibilities of the 5 as a Bench Mob, and henceforth got me feeling more optimistic. Cheers!

Realistically, I think Lamb is the most likely player on the roster to be traded. We have good depth behind him and moving his salary for an expiring would keep us out of the luxury tax for the 2018-19 season.

Darrell Arthur has a PO for next season and is probably attainable, McRoberts might be another option as well.

I'm worried about the spacing on that unit. If Lamb for whatever inexplicable and bizarre reason still cant hit 3s it could be an issue having he, MCW, and Cody, share the floor.

Indirectly why I'm loathe to trade Marvin. Adding Dwight to Cody removed the # of opportunities of sticking Frank at 5 --- trading Marvin reduces those chances even further and hinders combinations of MCW, Lamb, and MKG.

Point being even if perimeter shots aren't falling Lamb + MCW + perhaps even MKG kinda works if the paint is vacated by 2 front court spacers. And presuming Clifford eases Monk in with a 10-man rotation, it's probably the best strategy to get wings on the floor who deserve minutes.

Alternatively Cody adds a 3-point shot. In that case forget everything I just wrote and GL to opposing 2nd units.

Adding Dwight just about made Marvin the team's defacto most valuable player. Anthony Tolliver won't be around to bail 'em out this time. But they're going to need SOMEBODY to do the bailing.

I agree with your points, but I think you give Clifford too much credit if you are assuming he has any interest in ever playing Marv or Frank at center, unless he has no other choice because of injuries.

Trading Marvin- No, Dwight has to be surrounded by shooters.

Trading for Bledsoe- No, if Monk is all we hope that he is Bledsoe and his potbelly contract is not necessary.

I would pretty much trade any combination of players on our roster other than one including two of Kemba, Nic, and Malik to get Kyrie.
