I don't think it is very rash at all. Who are the guys with Zion's physique that are great or even very good shooters?

Duke4life831 wrote:But wouldnt he be even a bigger threat with his explosiveness and finishing around the rim if defenders had to play up on him out to the 3pt line? No defender will be able to stay in front of him if they have to respect his jumpshot, which then means he will be almost impossible to stop when you mix that in with his driving ability and freak athleticism and strength.

I dont think anyone is saying he should tailor his game after Klay Thompson or JJ Redick. But adding a 3pt shot that defenders have to respect automatically opens his game up tremendously in the half court, not just on the ball but off the ball as well.

IMO he shouldn't be playing on the perimeter at all right now. His handle is limited as well. So is his passing(clearly not a natural). You work on these things but they should not be a focus and more importantly its very very very easy to get lazy on the perimeter. The best way to deploy his natural talent(primarily strength hands leaping) is crashing the boards and catching lobs and any time he spends on the perimeter is not giving him an opportunity to do that.

Honestly doesn't look like he's putting much effort in these clips I see. Just on cruise control, doing what ever he wants.

Not sure if he's done growing, but with his frame I'm wondering if he's more of a undersized PF if he bulks up even more.

Yeah, this is what I've been thinking when I see him play. Especially with his physique.

Looks like him and Immanuel Quickley are going to be a package deal.

He's 6'7 and 235 lbs, that's NBA size so there's very little he can't do against school kids. It would be interesting how he translates his game to when he competes against players at his physical level in college.

Not going to act like I saw 76ers Barkley, but he was an elite rebounder and put up 4-5 apg in Philly. Doubtful Zion is ever that.

Crashing the boards and catching lobs is something any player can do today. You don't need to learn how to do it, you just do it (if you can). There is literally no upside to "practicing" these things.

If he's as unskilled as you think he is handling, shooting, and passing the ball, you have basically described the career path of Tristan Thompson or Kenneth Faried. If he's going to be more than that, he clearly does need to work on all those aspects of his game.

I wouldn't draft the player you are describing in the top 10, let alone top 3.

I'm thinking somewhere in between Larry Johnson and Charles Barkley. I hope he blows both out of the water though.

My stance on Zion is pretty cemented now.

He's either the next Barkley or he's a huge bust. I don't see any other scenario.

Personally I would love to see a generational talent like Barkley come along again, but history isn't on his side. We'll see if he can really translate that athleticism vs. top competition + add to his skill set.

I'm not understanding the Barkley comparison. He's closer to Blake Griffin than Barkley from what I can tell.

Stature

True.. but also very lazy on most peoples part.. Charles was actually chubby.. not in a "fat" kinda way but we was nor exactly ripped.. wich made his sucsess so baffling.

Zion if you look at him closely or Shirtless you see he is Shredded.. almost no fat. He has thick muscles.

They are both "thick" thats about where the simillarities end. Zion is so insane at 17 because he looks like 2012-2013 Lebron in terms of Thick but Ripped.

Look at his Arms.. thats not Fat..

This is wrong on pretty much every level lol.

FWIW, Barkley was like 6'4" 260. Zion is 6'7" barefoot, 230. He's much closer to Blake Griffin's measurements than Chuck.

Hmmm I have watched his full high school games before. But what makes him a pure PF type? He looks like a perimeter player from highlights.

He literally does not look like a perimeter player.

Barkley was listed at 6'6. Zion is also a kid. The differences in build and athleticism are clear. He plays like a slashing wing, and I don't see any similarities to Griffin.

You shouldn't be so rude and dismissive of other peoples opinions.
