Re: VOTE: Would you trade Wiggins + filler for Kyrie?
we can't trade our own future firsts since we still owe one to Atlanta (the Payne deal). We can trade the OKC pick.
Technically, Jones+Dieng+pick works in the trade machine, but yeah, not happening.

We can trade first round picks as long as they aren't consecutive years. We could trade 2020 pick and 2022 pick.

Re: VOTE: Would you trade Wiggins + filler for Kyrie?
I go back and forth every day on this one.
Pro Trade:
- Get a legitimate 3rd star (assuming Towns is headed there) who fits right between Butler and Towns in terms of age.
- Have a good distribution of star players (a point guard, wing, big).
- Kyrie has a better handle, 3pt shot, and nearly rebounds at the same rate as Wiggins.
- Showing Towns we are willing to do whatever we need to do to get better.
- Avoid paying 5 year max on Wiggins which is still debatable in terms of value.
Con Trade:
- Awkward fit with Butler. There will need to be sacrifices in terms of on-ball versus off ball.
- Awkward fit with Teague who came here to be a starter. Will almost certainly be dealt in December and the return will be minimal due to the circumstances.
- Aside from Butler, horrible defense at our guard spots with a rotation of Kyrie/Teague/Crawford.
- If the trade is say Wiggins/Aldrich/Jones for Kyrie, the roster is almost completely turned over aside from Towns/Dieng/Bjelica.
- If we have to include the OKC pick, we have no draft pick next year which sucks in terms finding potential late first gems which become critical for capped out teams.

How would Wolves fans feel about trading Jeff Teague and 3 lottery protected firsts for Kyrie? (I'm aware this couldn't happen until December)

Wouldn't do that. Irving not that much better than Teague.

I'd do it for lottery protected picks...we won't miss the playoffs though

If we made that trade… We would be a top three team in the league for years. With Teague, we may be the six best team in the west.

One of the picks would have to be the OKC pick. I don't think we can trade 3 of our own, because we already owe one and there is a limit to how far out you can trade first rounders.

Yes one of those could have to be okc's depending on when it conveys.
You can go 7 years out into the future with trades.

Three first round picks is a lot. You never know who might turn out big time. I don't trade three first round picks for a slight upgrade at PG.

I understand reluctance but we're talking about 3 #27 picks based on your top 3 projection (and OKC will be really good this year too if that's included). That's only 4 picks from reasonably being able to buy back into the draft. What would you consider trading besides Wiggins?

Anything is available besides Wiggins....and I would trade Teague and the three first rounders lottery protected and not think twice about it

I will have this bookmarked to Klomp's signature along with the other false information.

Usually happens when someone gets a ton of hype and doesn't live up to it, plus not like he has a likeable personality, does he even have one? It probably doesn't help that some Wolves fans over-rate him either.

I think the hype had to do with him being a mix of a Canadian product & the fact he looked like a legit generational talent in the 8th grade.
Trust me, if you look over my posts, i've mentioned many times how Wiggins has pissed me off with his lack of passion sometimes & how he gets up for certain games and is okay at disappearing for others.
For some reason though, all this hate(I can't say all of it is hate, some if it is legit criticism that many Wolves fans would agree with, but this man is 22 years old & it's like he already hit his ceiling in people's eyes) makes me hope he excels on a team next to Butler & KAT, maybe becomes a Klay Thompson type(when I say that, I mean a 3rd fiddle that is okay with taking the scoring load some nights & fine supporting the other guys on other nights)
Dysfunctional Wolves fan

I am not saying he deserves all the hate, but I understand where it's coming from.I know if he wasn't on my team I probably wouldn't like him at all either.
Not all 22 years old improve BTW, some regress..

I agree the General Board just absolutely trashes Wiggins. I hope he truly breaks out and is a force on both ends. While I would be hesitant to give him up in a trade if Thibs decided to go through with then I would trust him and be excited. I still think pairing Wiggins with Butler and Towns could be a top 3 seed in the West in year 2 though.

People continue to hype him up too, part of the problem. I just don't think a lot of Minnesota fans are realistic about their expectations with him.
Players have inflated raw stats on bad teams and it can be misleading. Look at Tyreke Evans in his rookie season. Look at Michael-Carter Williams in his rookie season. It's not that difficult to have inflated raw stats on a bad team where you're given a green light to do what you want. Jahlil Okafor may fall into that boat in his rookie season as well.
Basically multiple guys who's skills are not translatable to winning basketball. I'm not saying that Wiggins is necessarily 100% analogous as those guys (though maybe more in line with Tyreke Evans impact) but the bottom line is if you are going to have the ball in your hands a lot on a winning team you have to be some combination of a high level passer or scorer. Michael-Carter Williams, not high level. Jahlil Okafor, grind it out post up basketball not very conducive to winning basketball. Tyreke Evans, can still run some point but his scoring volume had to be reduced because he's not a skilled enough scorer. Wiggins is showing more propensity to at least do a high volume role BUT he's a very poor passer and his scoring efficiency is below league average. Those things are not conducive to winning basketball. No, that does not mean he will never improve but given he's maintained mostly the same rates through three seasons I think expecting those skills to go supernova or to substantially improve in the next few years might be giving into false hope a bit.
So if you're not going to have the ball in your hands a lot on a winning team, you need to find other ways to be valuable. Well, Wiggins is a very bad defender (this is the truth, not overstating) and I still think his three point shot is a bit of a question mark, even if for him it was a big improvement last year. He was at league average from 3 last year but with a low volume of 3s taken.
So if it seems people are being negative about Wiggins it's because the reality is there's a lot of reasons to be. I want him to prove me wrong, I want him to go supernova but he's really going to have to prove it.
