Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Aug 1, 2017 11:19 pm

The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed upon a one-year deal with Ian Clark.

Clark spent the last two seasons with the Warriors. Last season, Clark averaged 6.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14.8 minutes per game.

Surprise no team would sign him to a bigger contract.

Is he gonna play some SF?

Very interesting signing. Might be able to really help the Pels and get a big contract next off season.

Definitely a big surprise and most thought he would get a decent if not big contract that would be out of Ws' price range.

Now it looks like Warriors are confident that McCaw can take Clark's minute. Other teams does not believe Clark enough outside of the Ws' system, just like McGee's lack of offers. Once again, good system does make players look better.

I am surprised Clark didn't get more money or multiple years, but teams are really cautious right now with most signings.

Remember, Clark played 15 mpg on the best team in the league, and he shot 37% from 3 and 48% overall, but don't forget that also means he got a ton of wide open looks. Draymond Green and his busted, goofy jumper shot 39% from three the year before Durant arrived. Spacing means a lot.

He hasn't proven himself to be a passer, and he certainly can't play SF, so his role right now is bench shooter. Unless your name is Crabbe and the basketball world blessed you with a ridic contract, bench shooters usually don't make a ton of money.

This is the right amount all he did at Warriors is get open looks.. He wont get that at Pel's a back up bench player in fine see if he can score with more pressure...

Having watched him play last few years, I can say he definitely can score under pressure. Not to say he is a starter, but he is a very serviceable backup scoring PG. Last year his A/TO ratio is almost 2:1 so it aren't bad at all. He can definitely defend for his size. Scoring wise is where he do well as a backup. No, he does not just get open shots at 3pt line. He is a very good cutter, a decent finisher, and most importantly he showed many instances that he could create off the dribble and score. Those make him a very good 7 to 9th man on any roster.

He was a regular rotation player for the champ and $1.6mil is definitely a steal for what he could do. Problem is Warriors has McCaw and Swaggy to take his minute, both are upgrade over him. He really needs a new agent next year.

Wait, wasn't it like, he played in crunch time ahead of Klay or something?

Saw this guy play consistently well throughout the playoffs. Not getting the low ball contract and commitment from the league.

Agree. I know the Warriors found replacements for him but if he was this cheap, why didn't they just bring him back?

His career averages of 4.5/1/1 disagree. One season of averaging almost 7/2/1 while never making an opponents whiteboard don't change things. He has more to prove.

He was playing behind kd and klay Thompson, I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt

He was also playing with KD and Klay so he was often unguarded. JaVale looked pretty good with them too. But Clark's been in the league for four years on three teams. We know what he is at this point.

If he pans out along with Rondo, is Holiday gonna play some SF?
