Can anyone remember a player so strong and big who had such a soft touch? I always thought that players who were more muscle bound always had less consistency on their jumper.

There are very few. Ewing was mentioned and, IIRC, Yao Ming's jumper was pretty wet. Even the bigs that are coming up now don't have Embiid's touch (Gasol, Lopez, Boogie) or Size/Strength (KAT).

Good examples. Porzingas has a nice shot from distance, but Embiid has the pull ups and post game that Hakeem had. Simmons and Embiid should be a lethal combination.

I said the exact same thing to a friend of mine a couple weeks ago and I'm an eagles season ticket holder.

Could not agree more. I'm all about the Birds around this time. I'm pumped to watch Wentz and Alshon, but I'm way more excited for the Simmons and Embiid pick and roll.

It's going to be such a massive weapon. Fultz and Simmons are much better scorers and athletes attacking the basket than Rodriguez and McConnell are. They'll attract much attention and open up even more space for Embiid. Defenders are going to have an awful decision to make as to whether to provide help to defend a Fultz/Simmons driving to the rim and dunking over guys or stay attached closer to Embiid.

If Embiid can learn to pass as well... imagine Simmons setting the screen for Embiid to either shoot a 3 or drive to the bucket... and Embiid passing it off the double to a slashing Simmons. Both are mobile enough.

This upcoming Sixers season is probably top 3-5 in my lifetime of excitement. Even the Sixers Finals season I wasn't over the moon excited going into it. I mean, I expected improvement, but wasn't even thinking Finals at that point. The 2008 Phillies I certainly wasn't thinking World Series champs. This upcoming Sixers season is up there with the 2009 Phillies and 2004 Eagles. I love watching young players develop, the journey of watching young teams grow even with their bumps in the road is one of the most underrated aspects of being a fan. I'd rather watch a young and talented 40 win team in the NBA than an old and veteran 50 win team, because the young team is full of unknowns, potential, and each game you watch is like opening a new present. Never know what you are gonna get, but just kick back and enjoy watching it all come into form.

I remember watching Golden State back mid way through 2012-13... and I get the exact same feeling with this Sixers team. I was telling people back then that they had a young core in Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Ezeli and Green and that they had the potential to win a championship. They had the defensive big rim protector, a point guard that can get his shot off any time and an elite shooting guard.

People laughed at me saying the Warriors had a losing culture and Curry had tissue paper ankles his body would never hold up, Bogut was done because of his elbow injury, Klay is too inconsistent, Green is overweight and unathletic.. etc etc. All the same crap I hear now about Embiid and Simmons and Fultz.

I think this Sixers team potentially has even more talent in their best 3 players now than Golden State did back then. We may not end up better but the talent in the right places and fit is pretty much the same when you spread it out across those 3 positions.

Yeah I'm super excited about this season. This is the most excited I have ever been for the Sixers season to start and I have been watching since the mid 80s. I was all for the tank and it was tough but it was the right thing to do. This is the first time in years I'm actually going to root for wins instead of losses lol. With that comes more anxiety because I'm going to start holding people accountable. No more excuses. When we lose games I'm probably going to be angry and that hasn't happened in forever.

I was just as excited about last year as I am about this year. Once Simmons went down that hurt my enthusiasm, but it was still really exciting to finally get to see Embiid.

This year is basically like the second attempt at what last year was anticipated to be.

He was already knocking them down last season. If/when he gets even better, watch out.

He's got to grab the rim a bit on dunks and hang until he gets his balance perfectly.

He was one of our best three point shooters last year! Hit them at 36.7% as well!

The threat of Embiid hitting from 3 makes him laughably good. It is said all the time in these circles, but it is far understated everywhere else, this guy is one of the sickest prospects of the last few decades. Everybody knows it comes down to his health. But most people still don't know just how special he can be if he is healthy.

A lot of his 3s were in pressure moments, he looks like a great leader.

Embiid and Simmons should be overwhelming for most defenders. When the Sixers need a basket, they should get a good look. Open jumpshots and a lot of dunks.

I'm pretty excited for the Eagles next season though.

I think Barnett, Sidney Jones, and Rasul Douglas are all going to be studs. If Jalen Mills can improve as well, along with Jordan Hicks, our defense will actually go from a question mark to one of the best in the league.

I'm actually not as high on Wentz as some people are. I see him as a Joe Flacco-esque QB: which you can still win a championship with don't get me wrong. But he's not the next Manning or Brady or even Matt Ryan IMO

I'd take Mariota, Winston, or Dak Prescott over Wentz tbh. It seems like Wentz is moving in slow motion out there some times, and I think our O Line will be on the decline as he comes into his prime, which is just bad luck really.

Our defense is more important to develop
