^On the GB I recently compared West to Winston Wolfe from Pulp Fiction.

"If I'm curt with you it's because time is a factor."

He's just come in and gone gangbusters, top to bottom, with that org. If there's one guy you DO bring in and just give carte blanche it's Jerry West.

I called that in a previous off season thread, the minute Jerry West was hired back in LA. Doc Rivers never showed any promise and the more that spews out, basically it was Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce who kept that Celtic team focused and Rondo save from being clubbed by Ray Allen like a baby seal.

Jerry West wanted nothing to do with the Knicks...because he like MOST executives know, Dolan won't let you fire all the chumps in the front office that have been there since Scott Layden was haunting MSG.

Dr. Detfink wrote:The whole Doc Rivers losing his front office position with the Clippers reminded me of Zimbabwe who seized the lands of white farmers by connecting them to colonialism (not that they were wrong) but they were short sighted and didn't properly maintained the lands. As a result Zimbabwe went from the Bread basket of Africa to starvation nation. Similarly Rivers took advantage of Donald Sterling's embarrassing situation and took a position he had no qualifications. We're watching the Clippers revert to what they were before Chris Paul.

Wow I thought it was just me but my guy Towns indeed ranked worst last season among Centers in terms of defense. Even worse than Okafor.

The difference is, if I may, is that Melo constantly spoke about wanting to be in NY to be with his son which we all know by now was total BS. He was just waiting until he got Phil fired. After that, "Yeah, I'll waive to go to Houston and Cleveland and maybe Oklahoma City."

He's a f*cking hypocrite.

This is only true if you look at the facts.

Seen through rose colored glasses, it looks very different.

I'm waiting for this conversation:

Kyran: Dad Melo, I read that you wanted to stay in NY to be with me, but then you agreed to go away and I didn't see you. And then I read that made a baby with another girl who wasn't mommy. Why you do that daddy? It made me sad.

Melo: STFU bitch

That is to be expected, and of course, would be very disruptive and upsetting to Kid Kyrie.

But seen through green colored glasses, it would look very different.

i do think that melo is only interested in money.

but i just wanted to post it to show that amare isn't squeaky clean. while i am also a dirtbag, i don't condone their behavior either. but they're human, and i really couldn't care less what they do. it's none of my business.

but i will never believe that melo wanted to be here to win, it was only for money - why wouldn't he have gone to chicago/houston the first time?

This does NOT deserve its own thread, but GOOD NEWS! The Knicks have let Mike Crispino go as their play by play radio announcer. He has been replaced with Andy Rautins. Or maybe it was with Ed Cohen. I report, you decide:

Ed Cohen Image

All I know is, every time I heard the Knicks radio play by play, it was embarrassingly bad.
http://nypost.com/2017/08/09/msg-network-tabs-new-knicks-radio-play-by-play-man/

Madison Square Garden Network is expected to announce soon that 34-year-old Ed Cohen will be named the Knicks’ radio play-by-play man, replacing Mike Crispino, who recently was let go after a long run with the network.

Once it’s official, Cohen, who grew up in Westchester and has spent the last 12 years calling everything from minor league baseball, to Liberty telecasts, to college basketball on TV and radio, will work with incumbent analyst Brendan Brown.

Cohen is the second Ithaca College alum in the last year to be hired by the network for a play-by-play role. MSG hired Ithaca grad Brendan Burke as the Islanders’ TV play-by-play man last August.

Crispino had called Knicks games from 2007-11 and from 2014 until last season.

Kyrie Irving didn't talk with his teammates for days at a time during the playoffs!

https://sports.yahoo.com/report-kyrie-irving-went-consecutive-180648732.html

Report: Kyrie Irving went consecutive days during playoffs without talking to Cavaliers teammates
Dan Feldman
NBC Sports•Aug 10, 2017, 2:28 PM

Kyrie Irving‘s trade request, to a borrow a word from him, is peculiar.

The second-best player on the NBA’s second-best team requesting a trade? That’s so far outside the norm.

So, there has been plenty of energy devoted to trying to understand Irving’s disconnect with the Cavaliers.

James Jones – who played the last three years in Cleveland then got hired by the Suns, who are in Irving trade talks – should have insight.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN on The BBall Breakdown Podcast (hat tip: reddit user Ivan_Pavlovich):

I think I reported this on SportsCenter this week. He saw Kyrie Irving in the playoffs this year – in between the first round, when they beat Indiana, and the second round, when they played Toronto – go consecutive days without speaking to a teammate at practice.

On that stage. It’s one thing to say people go through their ups and downs in the regular season. But when you get to the playoffs, “when the main thing is the main thing, and we’re brothers, and we’re pulling together to get this thing done” – even at that level, there were still things that made him sullen or reclusive from his teammates.

Winning cures most ills. It obviously doesn’t cure all ills. Irving reportedly considered requested a trade after the Cavs won the 2016 title.

We don’t know all the context of Irving’s silence. Was he protesting or just locked in? Either way, this seems like a poor way of fostering a bond within the team.

Anyone considering trading for Irving ought to consider his attitude, but this is just one vague incident. The rest of this story and other cases would reveal more.

If that report on Kyrie is true -- IF -- I don't want him on our team.
