Knicks could waive / trade some guys to get the roster down by the time the season rolls around.

I suppose. But this is the sort of trade that doesn't really happen—too many moving parts.

I'm thinking IF we do a OKC trade for Melo (I doubt it tho), a 3rd team will likely be involved. Either to flip some of the assets, or convert to future assets.

--Mags

Totally agree. Though I think the Kanter/Porzingis pairing might work all right in the short term.

Not starting tho, but like part time. WillyG would start with Porzingis, and then Kanter would come in relieve one of them playing with the other.

I'm more psyched about the possibility of the youthful Defense. Porzingis protecting the Paint, and Furgeson+Ntilikina protecting the Perimeter. :D

I'm really really low on Ferguson, so I don't see it. But you could be right.

If he works at it, I think he could be another Ariza type.

He was in my next tier of players to Draft had NY acquired another 1st.

I could see it being potent offensively. Defensively it might be a disaster.

His fit here is way down on the list of the reasons I'd do this trade.

Did you listen to the Duncd on podcast with Fred Katz doing the OKC preview?

Yeah, I did. Left a summary on the OKC board.

I'm actually of the opinion that they have one more big move up their sleeves that hasn't happened yet. Part of it's gut, part of it's looking at the current roster.

1) They have 16 players under contract
2) They pushed Semaj's guarantee date out post-training camp
3) They were rumored to be looking into picking up Brad Wanamaker from Europe, which would necessitate buying out his salary (and he's not coming for a 2-way spot or a D-League spot).
4) OKC never goes into a season without 3 point guards on roster. If they waive Semaj to get to 15, they'd have 2. And no real secondary ballhandlers. They're still desperately thin on playmaking/ballhandling talent.

My gut says there's an unbalanced trade coming—a 3 for 2 or 2 for 1 type of trade.

Did they even mention Ferguson? The podcast would of got me hyped if I was an OKC fan.

I know this started as the 7-3 talk, but what do you think about adding even more shooting like they mentioned during the podcast?

Kanter Ferguson CHI 2nd for Lee KOQ

Singler MCD Ferguson for Lee

Adding more shooting at the 2 isn't the way we need to go. We need 3/4 guys. Lee's not a 3. Adding Lee means less minutes for Roberson and Abrines, both of whom need to get minutes.

Contract aside, a return of Lance Thomas would be good IMO for OKC. Even considering the contract (IIRC $7 Million/ year ), is not bad in the current NBA.

He can indeed also play the 3/4.

The Melo to OKC was talked about a long time ago on Around the Horn. ESPN/Denver Post scribe Woody Paige responded with, "Are you kidding me? Melo HATED it in Denver. If he hated it in Denver, there's NO WAY he'll agree to go to OKC."

Houston is a huge multicultural hub and that's Melo's thing. It's not about the on-court stuff but the off-court stuff that he looks at. Part of the flaw to his decision making process. That goes all the way back to when the draft when he wasn't crazy about going to Detroit (who just won a championship) and playing for Larry Brown...otherwise, it wouldn't take much to make Joe Dumars reconsider his pick #2 Darko.

I think we win this one. OKC will struggle to begin the season. Westbrook and PG13 is such a weird combo.

All I want is an L with Frank giving Westbrook fits on defense. That would make my life complete.

Sad, I know...

And when we get the no. 1 pick in the draft in 2018, just remember who put us on the right path from game 1. :D (Hint: I'm setting you up here! Don't disappoint.)
