melo is older and a lot slower, and this upcoming season he's just gonna trend down. do you know how badly unathletic melo is now? he had his lowest career free throw attempts because he can't blow by passed his man consistently anymore so he settles for more jumpshots which results in his low fg%.

melo at the 4 doesn't make him better, him coming off the bench makes him better. him just being instant offense makes him better.

the heat want to do it with wade, it's not a knock ... it's a way to extend his career longer.

The spacing provide by playing a 3&D guy at the 4 could open up enough space for even the less athletic Melo to drive to the rim more often. He's still a problem for 4's to guard him though. Even when he's settling for the jumper, there's one less help defender because they can't leave their guy open at the 3PT line, so the threat of the drive is there.

Melo at the 4 is definitely better than Melo at the 3. Whether if it's better for the team if he's the 6th man, TBD.
