"...one person who could not abide by Mr. Oakley's refusal to meekly submit to people in positions of power was defendant, James Dolan, who inherited control of the Knicks from his father..."

This is a win-win.

Either Charles wins and our favorite NBA villain bites the dust, or even it he doesn't win, there's considerable value in seeing Charles Oakley express how millions of Knicks fans feel.

Before Dolan apologists call Oakley petty and childish, remember this:

I'm not impressed with the quality of that allegation. I mean "kiss the ring"? I'll have to read the entire complaint.

Does anybody know where the complaint was filed? Federal District Court or Manhattan Supreme Court?

Bites the dust how? It's a pretty frivolous lawsuit in the grand scheme of things and it is civil not criminal. Although I support Oakley as a fan.

Oak might get a little ignorant here and there, but he's a man's man.

Dolan publicly calling Oakley and alcoholic and saying that he was drunk at The Garden that night is going to cost him a lot of money, IMO. I hope this goes to another jury trial, like Brown-Sanders. Dolan definitely defamed Oak. And if Oakley's version of the events at The Garden that night is true, then MSG is going to be on the hook for malicious prosecution and false arrest.

As I recall, publishing a false statement about another's drug or alcohol use "defamation per se'." Assuming this tort is still acknowledged in NY State (I believe Michigan and California have amended the law), if Oakley can prove that Dolan's/MSG's statements about his "alcoholism" fall within one of the categories of defamation per se, he's not required to prove damages at trial as they are presumed.

Read my post just above yours.

That allegation is to set up the background between Dolan and him. I really didn't like the way it was put together. There was a better way to write it to make Dolan appear petty towards Oakley rather than Oakley not treated like the royalty that he believes he is. A little on the snooty side.

Or this:

http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/charles-oakley-s-pool-altercation-in-las-vegas-1.13109638

I live in Vegas and Oakley has a bad rep here.

I wish people would stop equating that by admonishing this type of behavior you are somehow a Dolan fan. I am a huge fan of Oakley as a Knicks player, and not a fan of Dolan as an owner. But acting the way he did was unacceptable, end of story.

I once litigated a lawsuit alleging assault and false arrest on behalf of an African American client who was tuned up at Harrah's in Delaware County, PA. We sued both casino security and Pa. state police officers and settled the case for $50k pretrial. These security types were all a bunch of meatheads.

I can't wait until Oakley's lawyers send out the document requests.

I haven't read the full complaint yet, but I wasn't impressed either from the paragraph I read in that tweet.

Is that true? That's crazy. He should get himself one of NYC's better trial lawyers.

Lol I was making a joke, I don't know. But that sure seems like a poorly written formal legal complaint. I mean I'm an auditor not a lawyer but I've seen better.
