Thanks Melo for the service. Now wish Knicks turns to a new chapter and a successful rebuild , while OKC beats Warriors this year would be the best wish from us.

And like shamgod said, who knows when the nuclear bombs are coming to town? Just enjoy the moment, folks.

I’m so sick of people blaming the knicks for this dudes effort. He became a stiff that wouldn’t move his feet and barely moved his legs. He stopped trying and stopped busting it awhile ago. He power walked around the court asking for the ball.

The knicks had nothing to do with this dude giving up on trying and abandoning any type of team concept. That’s a choice he made. He chose to stay. It didn’t go well so he ditched and went for self.

King, Ewing, and spreewell always played hard. When Ewing began to break down it was tough to watch because he pushed himself to the point of physical failure trying to carry the team. He refused to take a lesser role and never stopped trying to prove he was still capable. That’s what caused issues. We were asking him to dial it back and he wouldn’t give up.

This dude right here gave up trying to push this team a long time ago. In fact he was never built like that. He’s a one on one play ground shooter that wanted to prove he was the best scorer on the floor. Sure there’s been times he’s played hard on both ends. And hustled. But those are expected. If it’s few and far between then criticism is justified.

This dude is an entertainer playing basketball creating a brand for himself for profit. And you know what? That’s all good. Get your money man. Do that. You supposed to. That’s his hustle and only a punk would knock it.

But it’s time for folks to ease back. Don’t hate on the man for getting money. And don’t hate on the knicks for not making him look like something he’s not. Stop trying to push this best player non sense on people who been around long enough to know better. You just showing your maturity, age and experience. Stand down. This dude was about his money. Respect that. But he wasn’t about that New York knicks professional basketball legacy. He was out for his. And that’s fine. Stop telling people who’s about this that they “haters”. I respect a man who’s trying to get his money. I don’t respect no one who’s cheerleading it. Especially if it’s my block. Your block. At some point that man gotta go. You better go with him.

He wanted to be here and forced his way to the Garden. Wouldn't even settle for Brooklyn when they had a trade lined up. That's a lot more than you can say for the rest of these high profile players who pay us lip service about how great it is to play at MSG and how passionate the fans are...only to go somewhere else when they have to put their money when their mouths are.

All the best Melo. That 42 & 17 game playing with scrubs vs Boston's big 3 & Rondo had me hyped. Unfortunately the help around you never really improved in all the years you were here, thanks to our trash front office. Hopefully you can make some noise out West with Russ.

Dam. Going to have to watch OKC. He can basically be Olympic Melo with Paul and Westbrook.

He is literally going to be able to catch and shoot with single coverage.

Really? So when Melo goes to the Basketball Hall of Fame should we be proud he was a Knick or not? Seeing that you are basically saying he is everything wrong with the current era of basketball.

Can't even have an appreciation thread without people writing paragraphs about why they don't like Melo. As if we haven't read about it in every other thread. We get it. You don't like Melo. Go to the OKC board with your complaints. Maybe the information will be new to them. Maybe.

I'll have no feelings of pride when he goes into the HOF. I'll shrug my shoulders. Winning one playoff series in seven seasons isn't going to elicit any emotions. Dude cared about himself more than the team. It's fine, it's a business, get yours. I get that from his perspective. As a fan, sorry. It ain't cutting it. I don't see how any fan old enough to remember our 90s teams can be a fan of a dude like Melo.

If you were a fan during the 90s you'll remember sometimes when the Knicks were booed during regular season games for lack of effort or execution. As a matter of fact it was/still is something expected from MSG fans. However when the Knicks played meaningful games, they balled out and left it all on the court. That's the memories you have. The last meaningful game I've seen the Knicks play involved Melo doing his absolute best to carry the team. He failed to carry that team to the Eastern Conference Finals. From that point on he failed to play in meaningful games and you saw that in his play AND his teammates as well. Losing doesn't look good.

Case in point
I'm sure you remember Charlie Ward being scrappy and energetic point guard, but you probably don't remember him getting destroyed by whichever All Star PG he played against, forcing JVG to give more play time to Chris Childs.

You remember John Starks diving on the floor for lose balls, smacking the floor on defense, and dunking on an entire Bulls team, but you don't remember him shooting blanks every 3rd game he played (regardless of whether it was the regular season or Game 7 of the NBA Finals).

You remember Sprewell giving maximum effort for the Knicks but you don't remember when he was labelled a ball hog and coaches worst nightmare while losing in Golden State.

I appreciate watching all these players, but they were not perfect. Neither was Melo. I can only be happy that he would at least show up when the games mattered. He gave some classic Knick playoff performances even in defeat. And sadly, that's the most anyone has done in the past 15 years.
