Anyone is better than Shumpert at this point. Dotson is just wearing his old 21. Make comparisons from that.

They just mean defensively and I think even then they're off. Kid seems to have better defensive instincts than Shump so far.

Offensively forget it. His ability to dribble a basketball & make a layup has him lapping Shump at this point

Been saying for awhile now... Dotson can play SF and is probably our best all around option there.

Kuz - too slow-footed laterally
McDermott - poor defender
Lee - size, just not big enough
LT - too inconsistent

Not saying he'll ever be a star but the kid has shown the ability to play! And he doesn't remind me of Shump other than from a physicality standpoint. Shump was never smooth on the offensive end like Dot. Dot plays under control

Dotson looks like he might be a 3 and D player. He needs desperately to work on his handle though.

It's in his best interest for sure but he could carve out a nice career just playing off the ball.

With both Frank and KP out, Dotson is the sole reason why I'm gonna be tuning into Knicks games and will be following him closely. Really high on his defensive ability and shooting stroke, and I think his rebounding ability is really underrated. Boy got hops, sometimes looking like he's jumping higher than the likes of KOQ and Kanter grabbing them bounds with ferocity!

rookie shump was looking special on defense before he blew out his knee. if he can give us that defensive impact along with being able to actually shoot then he's a steal. put your bias on what shump is now aside, it's a fair comparison.

It's still early but I'll admit I did not like Dotson all that much and didn't like the pick. But boy so far he's look great. So we basically learn 2 things:

1. Dotson could be one of the surprise/sleeper picks of the draft.
2. Moo can actually be wrong for once.

I think it should of been an easy answer for you to put J.Noah in that center spot.

J.Noah.

He absolutely has a higher offensive ceiling and i'm pretty sure when that comparison was made they were only thinking about the defensive side of the ball cause the kid already has a great stroke from 3 point land which Shump can only dream of.

Like I said in another thread, the rotation has to be set so him and Frank get PT together

Same here. I didn't know much about him in college. I really wanted Thornwell and if I remember correctly you did too?

These comparison puff pieces make me roll my eyes. Y'know that's the worst thing you can do to a rookie, compare him to someone else before the first game of the season is even in the books.

Give me 25 regular season games of watching the young man develop and then...only then should ONE word be written about him. Till then, preseason doesn't count.

As long as he doesn't gather off the wrong foot when attempting a layup/dunk he should be fine.

So you have going him guilty even though he was never charged with anything. Nice.
