Does Semaj get brought back on a two way deal?
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Re: OKC Thunder Offseason: Avengers Assemble
We should just pick up Keith Benson on a 10-day and see how he plays behind Adams. Guy's 29 and in the G League but he's long (7'4 wingspan) and he's 6'11 and he's got a little range. Better FT shooter than Dakari as well. #whynot?
In all seriousness, I'm surprised to see that we are heading into our first game w/o a legitimate backup center. I will say this though. I think it is possible that everything works out fine with Grant and/or Huestis backing Adams. If our second unit is committed to defense and we are running and gunning, I think Grant should be fine as he will definitely have a step on his opponent in transition which can create some serious mismatches on offense. We will see, though

I think he does unless we plan on going with Hamilton as Felton's back up, which isn't entirely out of the question, but I for one would rather have Christon over Hamilton as a backup to Felton.

I think we only have 2 of those to give and they went to Dakari and Hamilton.

What if anything could Singler, Grant and 1-2 second rounders get? D Valentine from Bulls? Anything cheap from Heat, Blazers, Jazz or nothing back?

Dakari got a regular contract, I think.

Oh. My mistake. It seems you are correct.

In either case, no point in bringing Christon back. He's not good. Why bother?

Because we've spent time developing him so Sam and Billy feel invested. Also as a reward for moving his guaranteed date back.
To be clear, I don't think we should, I'm simply questioning rather we will.

Re: OKC Thunder Offseason: Avengers Assemble
Is there really any point to trying to develop guys in the d league? Do that many players like Dakari actually become competent nba players?

Define competent. We aren't developing superstars, we're hoping for a guy to make it to role player status. Maybe worked for huestis, we'll see this year. Dedmon, Danny Green, Jeremy Lin. I'd say it is about as likely to work as a euro draft and stash. I guess the question is more why not try it since it costs you nothing extra?

This seems like a topic nylon calculus or another site should take up. We've got 15+ years of data to go on. It would be fascinating to know what the numbers say in terms of whether D league experience correlates with later success among the subset of players that were selected in the first or second round of the nba draft.

If I were to guess I'd say among first rounders there is a negative correlation (just based on first rounders rarely being sent to the d-league by teams other than us unless they really suck), and no correlation for second rounders. In my mind it's nothing more than a way to get prospects you like in a system linked closely to your organization. In other words, I don't think it increases the likelihood of a guy like Dakari developing, it just gives us some control over his development and keeps him in house.

Re: OKC Thunder Offseason: Avengers Assemble
Gerald Green got waived.
Worth picking up?
I'd rather hold the 15th spot for the buyout market. If for some reason neither Russ or Felton can be on the floor, we might see some 4 wing 1 center lineups with PG OR Melo creating. Something like this could be interesting:
C Jerami
PF Roberson
SF PG13
SG TFerg
PG Abrines
...or we could play Hamilton occasionally. Though it seems like half of you have a hate boner for him so I dunno.

That claim reminds me of the Dallas Fan who told me Westbrook wouldn't even get minutes under a proper coach like Carlisle or Pop in 2016.

The GSW guy who said Hill would win more last year

Team Petty is still very much alive. I call bs on this 'They made up' thing.

I don't even know whether to believe that. Perkins has had a way of trying to insert himself into this conversation for a while now. Someone wants to be relevant again.

Re: OKC Thunder Offseason: Avengers Assemble
Thought occurred to me RE: Semaj getting a 2 way contract. Shouldn't an organization use those for, you know, development? Semaj is about to turn 25. He's sub-sub-basement level caliber for an NBA PG as is. Likelihood of him improving with more D-League time seems de minimis. We've already got Hamilton on a 2 way who is a PG/swingman anyway. Seems like a waste of resources to give him one.
