Looking less and less like a witch hunt and more and more( no pun? ) like this guy is a real pos. Like I said last week. No mercy for pedophiles. None. Find another charge and throw the book at him if allegations are true. Make one up. I don't care. Remove this man from power. Seize his wealth. And remove his liberty. His wife is very likely in on it given that she already falsified this letter and made it look current so make sure she doesn't get any of his wealth either.

Btw, we can thank Sean Hannity for doing the tough investigative journalism and exposing this man last week. The lack of veracity in Roy Moores answers to hannitys questions last Friday (4 days ago) just didn't answer the veracity of the allegations.

I'd like to see liberal Publications and media sources and "journalists" ask the same tough questions when their guy " isn't ready" for the questions.

Unlike the Bill Clinton Fiasco where Bill's own wife threw the accusers under the bus and the entire democratic establishment rallied behind Bill both before and after his impeachment hearings, Republicans quickly and almost entirely disbanded from moore. Literally within a week of the allegations. That's how you do it. And they are doing so with a critical senatorial seat on the line. Color me impressed.

Well, I have to think about this one but... it seems like a "if you don't march with me - I can't trust you". That seems like a single issue person. He gives not quarter to any other issues - IMO.

I guess that is the same as the old anti-abortion folks. If you don't agree - I can't respect you.

Again - I have to think about this more...

If you read the article again you see that he even says he can be cordial with Trump voters and break bread with white people but to build deep lasting friendships will take more. I think that shows a more nuanced view than you're giving him credit for.

I think you make an incorrect comparison to the anti abortion folks. Anti abortion fight against something that literally has no effect on them personally. A woman getting an abortion on the other side of the country has no bearing on my life. However the author is arguing against something that would have a direct effect on the life of himself and more importantly his children. There's a difference between saying "I'm not supporting something that's a threat to my well being and my children's lives" vs "I'm not supporting something because ideologically I'm opposed"

I hope the way you read it is right. It doesn't feel that way. I am still trying to understand the affects of tribalism.

My argument on the anti abortion folks doesn't have anything to do with proximity. It has to do with trust, respect and cordiality.

Kind of this as an adjunct:

I read this article (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/11/opinion/sunday/interracial-friendship-donald-trump.html) and in no way can I embrace the notion that "real friendship" between blacks and whites is more difficult now than ever before. I would never, ever teach my African-American daughters that they can’t trust a group of people based solely on their race. That’s the same mentality that has historically victimized black people.

It seems to me that the premise of the column and its headline are designed to be provocative above everything else.

However, I do share the very real concerns that the author raises in the sections of his column quoted below. These are sentiments that I’ve heard raised time and time again by people of color.

History has provided little reason for people of color to trust white people in this way, and these recent months have put in the starkest relief the contempt with which the country measures the value of racial minorities. America is transfixed on the opioid epidemic among white Americans (who often get hooked after being overprescribed painkillers — while studies show that doctors underprescribe pain medication for African-Americans). But when black lives were struck by addiction, we cordoned off minority communities with the police and threw away an entire generation of black and Hispanic men.

His [Trump] election and the year that has followed have fixed the awful thought in my mind too familiar to black Americans: “You can’t trust these people.”

It is not Mr. Trump himself who has done this. Were it not for our reverence for money, Mr. Trump would be easily recognized as the simple-minded, vulgar, bigoted blowhard he is. It is certainly not the neo-Nazis marching on Charlottesville; we have seen their type before. Rather, what has truly broken my heart are the ranks of Mr. Trump’s many allies and apologists.

Mr. Trump’s supporters are practiced at purposeful blindness. That his political life started with denying, without evidence, that Barack Obama is American — that this black man could truly be the legitimate president — is simply ignored. So, too, is his history of housing discrimination, his casual conflation of Muslims with terrorists, his reducing Mexican-Americans to murderers and rapists.

i've been hearing a strong argument lately that the entire weinstein, spacey, Louis CK, et al scandel is a result of allowing "rape culture" to go unchecked in the 90's with Clearence Thomas and Bill Clinton.

And there is certainly some legitimacy to that claim.

Now I'm no spring chicken. I've worked in restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs, US Navy, even did a very brief runway gig for Ford in the early 90's in japan while briefly stationed there and in Hawaii. I dated a couple former luvabulls. a former local weather girl now turned everyday "news" women. And my current girl friend is a former playboy model. Now I know no one here can believe any of that i dont care. its says more about your little world you live in than me and mine. I was once good friends with Allegra Curtis who was doing make-up for Ford at the time and partied in Tony Curtis' Oahu mansion often and the well-to-do hawiian crowd. as well as a ton of very talented photographers some of which ended up in film school, now working in hollywood. One of my old room mates is a smaller budget Hollywood producer right now. That's was all before I turned 26. I'm 46 now. Along the way i've learned that wealthy powerful people, both men and women, have people falling over themselves left and right just to hang out with them. just the idea of hanging out with wealthy or even moderately "famous" people just gets a lot of people's juices really going. I mean they just feign even for these moderately wealthy barely famous types. Practically throw themselves at them often and regularly. So i've seen a lot.

For example. let me tell you about a local "scumbag" I know. local restauranteur in chicagoland. Owns over 7 large restaurants and 3 massive bars. Short little disgusting and very ugly greek guy. A real "creeper." and he brags about sleeping with every waitress that works for him. The kind of guy that takes you golfing and there is a willing female at every gold hole, usually a girl from the strip club. Not my thing. but it was his. Anyway, I was the only guy he trusted outside of his family. and at times he trusted me over his own family. I first earned that trust umping youth baseball when i was 16. He and his brothers, cousins, and friends coached the entire league and he tried to buy me off one game. 2 stacks to throw a game for him. i was 16 and earned 15 dollars per hour from the park district to ump. That 2 g's would have changed my life back then. So I kicked him out of the game and called the game straight. I also threw his brother out (opposing coach)later that game. his son's team still won 4-3 fair and square. A day later he called and offered me a job. And he paid really well. Years later, i was down in his office in the basement of his diner counting money. literally counting over 1.8 million in cash by hand. No cash counter. This was in the early 90's. An urget thing accounting thing came up. nearly all of it was singles, fives, and tens. Took all weekend. Him, me, his dad, and his brother. And about every hour or 2 he would call down one of his waitresses(all of them over 21). expose himself. and they would you-know-what. He'd give them $200 bucks and they'd go back upstairs and finish their shift. I didn't know what to think. But In my mind, it was wrong and he was a scum bag. I didn't speak my mind though. nor did I cheer it on nor encourage it. I was quiet and kept counting. i also felt I owed him cuz he took care of me. I guess those waitreses felt similarly because to this day nealy half of those waitresses still work for him. more than 30 years later!! and none of them have ever filed suit against him. I would know because i know his attorney better then he knows his attorney. I recommended that attorney. I bring this up because I understand that people like him live in a different bubble. crazy as it sounds, i kind of liked one of those waitresses back in the day. never told her because after i personally saw her "be one of those girls" I had a completely different view of her. I felt disgusted that she wasn't disgusted. I'm still weirded about by it. kind of. but ive come to understand that some people just live in different bubbles. And some people can pull off being the dirty old man.

I bring this up because I have no idea what to think about Roy Moore or Bill Clinton or This scumbag restauranteur down in my neck of the woods. Ive seen both men and women willingly put themselves out there to make a quick or easy buck. and have no regrets at all. And I do know that this particular guy has willingly put girls through college. Put some of their children through college. and helps many people. One time I was in a bind and i needed a few stacks and he drove to me and handed it to me. 40 stacks. I was an idiot 23 year old. he didn't ask. just drove to me to make sure i was Ok and handed it to me. When i brought it back to him. He said, you hold on to it for me. I'll let you know when i need it. thats was over 2 decades ago!! So he's been good to me. and thats what everyone I ever met that knew him also says. So, somehow, he "pulls off" being a scumbag. and no one looks at him like that. weird, i know. But it is what it is.

With that said, if this man ran for president, i am 100% certain that at least 400 women would come out of the woodword with the most hellacious of claims. And none of them would be lying. yet none of them have ever voiced anything but thankfulness for him. They write him long letters of thankfulness on holidays and such. I mean when he was in the hospital with a major heart conditioned a few years back everyone showed up. Everyone!! going back 30 years, everyone showed up and stayed with him. For hours. They love this guy!!! And he loves them. he truly cares for everyone in his life and everyone that has ever worked for him. And I love this guy!! but he is a scum bag. I dunno man. I dunno. its a complex world we live in.

thank you for opening up. have you ever considered how you come off? as in compared to the mindless soulless drones on facebook you describe?

i'm gonna give you some unsolicited advice. or rather knowledge that was once given to me:

Simply. all "healthy" human beings will and should act in their own self interest. if they dont, they dont know how to love themselves. and if they dont know how to love themselves they will never know how to love you. And if they dont know how to "reel you in" to their self interest then they simply "aren't good" at being a friend.

the sooner you learn to fully appreciate this simple yet complex sage, the sooner life can become amazing.

and you can certainly benefit from some amazing, my friend.

Edit: this was a quote from Zonker. that i guess he removed? and does not reflect the feelings of SD20. SD20 does not support racism of any kind.

Zonker, it sounds like you hate white people. I wish you had a different experience with white people so that you felt differently but obviously no one can take away from your experiences. I would recommend however getting to know other white people in different circles. and like, get off facebook, bruh. my god, that place is soooo 5 years ago. yuk!

This is terrible advice and a misreading of Zonk's statement.

Terrible in that your advice is circular, you are advocating Zonk to befriend individuals that he has no interest in... that is in no way in his own best interest.

And saying that you find most white people to not be intellectually curious and open minded does not equal hate.

So, advice - don't give advice.
