throw away probably

Precisely. That's the camp Thon is in.

We need to convince everyone he is 20 and trade him asap IMO. 7 footers who can shoot and go step for step with Lowry are pretty rare. Surely some team will be able to sell themselves on that value so early in his career. In the end though, I think he will end up like the Anthony Bennett's, Kwame Brown's, and Thabeet's of the world.

Thon with no leap or jumper just shouldn't be on any basketball court. If he's carrying an injury it's something that he doesn't have the margin in his game to carry and he's got to be pulling the trigger from the corner to be at all playable. Watching him jump 8 inches attempting shot blocks is crazy after seeing him intimidate Lowry/DD in the playoffs.

Maker’s not afraid to toot his own horn. “I’m going to be an All-Star,” Maker told BR. “I’m going to be a champion. Not just one, multiple times. I’m going to be an MVP. I’m going to be Defensive Player of the Year. Not just once, multiple times. And the rings part is the biggest one for me. And the Hall of Fame part.”

damn, didn't know he said these things

Maybe Kidd is behind this not allowed to jump thing.

Yeah, I mean is it possible this 7000 calorie diet and lifting regiment are part of the problem? He definitely appears to have regressed as an athlete this year. Injury and finding out after the season that he was hurt all year wouldn't surprise me either though.

if wer going to stick with Thon, and hope he develops into something,
then i want to see him be involved in plays, NOT from the C position.
give him some time next to Henson/Belomboy.
or maybe try a few Henson/Thon/Giannis mins.
that way he can get more offensive opportunities to drive and create,
instead of having to defend and check centers all game.
*
i HATE that when he defends on the perimeter,
that he is super close to his man.
whoever it is, sides steps and just takes 2 dribbles and has burned Thon.
he (and the coaches) need to make an adjustment to his perimeter defense.
dont allow the drive,
and make the player shoot over him and his 7ft+long arms.
this would be way better than over challenging on the 3pt shot and getting burned by

Why does Kidd even play him when he takes away his biggest asset on the offensive end? His 3 point shooting. I'll never understand his ideals with the 3 point line, both on offense and defense.

Obviously we all see the struggles, but the regression from rookie to sophomore is almost unbelievable. I always had my questions about his offense, but defensively he is turning into a real problem, and not in a good way.

Thon needs to play less than 10 minutes a game, maybe even just benched or G-League'd.

He did say before the season that they they would use the extra days between games for heavy lifting, especially while at home. Would have to be staggering out the squat rack before every game though. I'm guessing he's carrying some kind of injury.

He's terrible right now, and he's bad enough in his minutes to sink whatever unit he's playing with. :(

Too be fair I think the playoffs in general intimidate those two guys....

I still think the ideal thing is to shut him down the problem is we have no other bigs to even run out there you cant go into games with Henson and Giannis at your only bigs.

Very disappointing... all I wanted was small improvements from last year, instead he has fallen off a cliff.
Doesn't shoot, can't jump, when he does jump his timing is totally off.

Look, some regression is to be expected when a player hits their 30's.

I'll show myself out.

If we were able to get Diamond Stone, could he be any worse? Definitely has more upside considering he’s actually 20.

After 20 games I said Vaughn was a terrible player. Thon is infinitely worse. If teams believe he’s 20 years old he’ll last a bit longer. If they don’t he’s back to high school after his rookie contract

Even Vaughn has shown more to make me think he'll be a competent rotation player than Maker which is pretty depressing.

sophmore slump? :dontknow:

switching sports, davante adams was absolutely pathetic his 2nd season. unplayable and many thought he should be cut. he's arguably the best wr on the packers this year.

not comparables, but just saying a nagging injury riddled adams made him the worst looking wr in the nfl his sophmore year and now he is looking like a stud. maybe there is still hope.

I think thon is somewhat broken, either mentally or physically or both, or his body transition he is unable to adapt to at the moment.

Send him to the G league and let him get fixed, no need for him to continue to embarrass himself in front of his peers.
