Yep....road win is a road win. I'll take it.

Im not falling for it!!!
We got Sevilla in 3 days...and Chel$ki 4 days later. Keep it up, and come talk to me at the end of Jan.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Another good win. Looked very strong. Still missing a couple guys to boot.
Would be GREAT to get some defensive guys in the transfer market. So far...been really impressed with Salah. Another good get by Klopp. Try your luck with defenders!! DEFENSE! It's what's for dinner!!....Jesus man.
I thought it was funny a little while back when we were playing West Ham, and one announcer was giving all this credit to Klopp for making his midfielders play 'defense first' and how it's really helped our defense....and then the other announcer (ex Arsenal player) was like "well hold on.....that's something he shoulda figured out last year! Good on him for finally figuring it out, but your getting paid about $6mil...figuring this stuff out is the basics of your job"
Not agreeing or disagreeing....just found it kinda funny. Our defense has been better. I think Salah, and Firminho and Mane have been able to really do damage...allowing our midfielders to put more defensive effort in.
But then we 1-1 Chelsea, and you see we're just not good enough. Frustrating.
Oh well....fight on.

Oh and Cactus...was a good game against your boys last week. Super classy of Durant to come over to Ingram at end of game and give him props.

I hear it. We had a couple weeks where we were lookin good. Lots of goals.
But 1-1 ties to Chelsea and Everton show we're pretenders...not contenders. I have managed to relax and enjoy the games a bit more, but everytime i start thinking "maybe" they stink it up.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Our issue is the ties. We have 2 losses. That's actually 2nd best behind mega-buck Man-$ity who have zero losses. Man-U have 3 losses...Tottenham and Chel$ea have 4 losses, etc etc.
But tied for 2nd worst with 6 ties. Feels like this has been our undoing for years. I'll go back and take a look

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Ehh....I think I'm wrong on this one. We're definitely up there on ties most seasons....but we have our fair share of losses too.
Always thought ties were our undoing....wonder where that came from. To be fair....we are in double digits for ties most seasons. That's gonna hurt you, no doubt.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Hey some cool news! From BBC:
""Egyptian Mohamed Salah has been voted BBC African Footballer of the Year for 2017.
Following a record number of votes, the Liverpool star won ahead of Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Guinean Naby Keita, Sadio Mane of Senegal and Nigeria's Victor Moses.
"I am very happy to win this award," the 25-year-old told BBC Sport."" <-------- Grats to him! He's playing really well

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Tired of watching the team overpay for mediocre defenders(lovren) and sign 3rd tier free agents(matip).
Klavan....man.
Even with skrtel and injured agger we were better. And i really can't understand what was klopp's problem with sakho.
Also the GK situation is problematic(at least) and i've lost all faith in moreno becoming a proper back at some point.
Liverpool needs to sell high on coutinho, sell for whatever price lovren, matip, klavan, mignolet, moreno and use all the budget for 2 central defenders, a left wing back and a GK.
If the team sells all the above they will have a 200mil budget to spend on.
You can buy top class players with this amount.
For once, just sign top class players.
I have the feeling that the last high profile signing of that team was suarez and before him torres.

Conceding goals isn't just because of those guys playing on defense. It's a team concept and something Klopp certainly doesn't prioritizes.
Buying another CB(you're playing freakin Ragnar Klavan from Augsburg there) is certainly a must but an even bigger need would be an actual holding midfielder.
Henderson, Millner and Can are nice, but neither of them is an actual holding midfielder and given the way Klopp sets up the team, having one of those(like he had at Dortmund with Kehl or Bender) is a must for him to have a better balance and make his system work.

I didn't follow Klopp at Dortmund. But, it's kind of ridiculous that he hasn't addressed that position like you say he needs. He's had four windows & two summers to address the defense & he's clearly neglected it to this point. The club still desperately could use an adequate Keeper to go along with a quality CB to replace Lovren & a DM. It's hard to see what he see's in them. He's been at the club for 2 plus years. You would think that he would do something about it!
