The fact that Bazemore is 28 years old puts him outside the rebuild window. League sources say the right combination of ending contracts and a first-round pick, even one highly protected might be enough to get Bazemore in trade, especially for a team looking for a scoring punch. – via Basketball Insiders

As far as the above...ending contract and a 1st (even if protected)...YES! DEAL!

Lol what? I doubt any team would be foolish enough to give anything of value for Bazemore's horrid contract.

I really think Bazemore's contract really is the worst in Hawks history.

^An unfortunate contract as well.

It is believed that Claxton will receive a four-year deal worth $25 million.

The Hawks targeted Claxton after a two-year, $13 million bid to wrest Sam Cassell from the Los Angeles Clippers fell short.
ESPN in 2006

Spoiler:
Bazemore is looking at $19+ million in salary in the final year of his horrid contract. Unfathomable for a guy who is best suited coming off the bench.

I think this is the deal that caused Horford to walk away in free agency and that led to Wilcox/Bud being demoted. It's one of the worst contracts in the league.

No way is Baze's the worst. At least he's still playing and actually playing decently. Speedy, Crawford, Hendu? Those guys just collected checks for the most part. Koncak of course but at least he played.

Don't you dare put Dr. Alan Henderson in the mix...he had dual duties!!! He was a player/Doctor for us..the first ever in the NBA ...why do you think Joe O retired...competition and constant questioning from a young Indiana grad...wish we gotten Sura in that draft..still love Hendu.

I see some of you guys in the trade board getting mad at their general **** offers. Look Dennis isn't all that but he's fairly cheap, still growing and we need a PG which Dennis. Unless the offer on the table is really good, it's unlikely for us to want to move him.

As for Baze, he's kinda rebuild his value back. He's the only member on this squad who can handle being a starter on a bad squad. He has some impact. I wouldn't be quick to trade him but I would move him for the right cost.

He's not even close. So many have been much worse. Atlanta has a history of giving bad contracts. Bazemore's one isn't even that bad.

If the GSW end up trading McGee. How about Dedmon to the GSW for their 2018 first round pick?

Ideally, I would prefer a trade to a team that is currently in the 5-8 seed in either conference so the pick is actually better.
Trading with GSW will have us with the following picks:
#1 - our own
#24 from Minny
#29 from Houston
#30 from GSW
#31 our own.

How best to use these picks. I don't think we keep them all as is or there'll be a couple draft and stashes since it's doubtful we have that much low end picks on our roster at one time. We will probably trade one for a future 1st or combine them to move up.

How can we combine them to move up in the draft? Let's take a look back.
In 2016:
Pels traded #39 and #40 to move up 6 spots to #33.
Suns traded #13 and #28, 2020 2nd and Bogdan Bogdanovic to move up 5 spots to #8.

In 2017:
Blazers traded #15 and #20 to move up 5 spots to #10.
Jazz traded #24 and Trey Lyles to move up 11 spots to #13.

Can the Haws do something like #24 and #31 to move to #18?
What(picks)/who(player) can we combine with pick #24 to move into the 10-14 lottery range?

"Jazz traded #24 and Trey Lyles to move up 11 spots to #13."

What friggin geniuses. This landed them Mitchell. This trade may end up being one of the best deals in recent history.

That was definitely a big win for a Jazz franchise in need of a young star. Mitchell looks like the real deal.

But, quietly, Trey Lyles is having a career season.

In his last 5 games he's avg 16 ppg and 7 rpg.
In his last 10 games he's avg 17 ppg and 6 rpg.
In the month of Dec he's avg 15 ppg and 6 rpg.

Lyles is also shooting 46% from 3-pt range.

Mitchell looks like a star in the making, but Denver got a solid young PF prospect that looks like a long term starter themselves.

That's strooooong! Agreed we aren't going to need any more super late 1sts. Plus I'm hoping we trade our guys to rivals of the Warriors.

I'm thinking we trade with the GSW while the Travis Schlenk connection is still fresh. İlyasova or Dedmon.

So you want to trade with a team that has very little tradeable assets as far as players they would trade and future draft pick assets and is capped out for the foreseeable future?

Sounds like a solid plan. Just because Schlenk was a former Warrior executive doesn't necessarily mean he will deal with them...looks fishy as hell too...specially if your not an x Celtic executive named Danny, Kevin or Larry.

I'd rather keep my player than trade him to the Warriors for the 30th pick in the 2018 draft. No more late 1sts.

We trade with whom gives us the best asset in return. For example, a team like the Wiz could use Dedmon, Minny and Detroit could use Illy and Beli.
