Salary relief.

Would you take Lance Thomas and expiring contracts for Kent Bazemore? Genuinely not trolling, but I would like to know if it's possible.

How does Bazemore fit with the Knicks?

I'm thinking of an O'Quinn/Sessions to Team X - Lance Thomas/Team X Expirings to Atlanta - Kent Bazemore to NY kind of deal.

Hawks are still in a good position to take on salary. It will take two drafts to do this thing; two drafts with high picks. That's year three before you even start to think playoffs. A fat, ugly two year deal and a pick for Baze works for me.

Why isn't Dedmon listed? He's is very likely to opt out. Shouldn't he be moved? If he isn't put on the block, you have to think there"s an agreement

Would an early second work as the pick in said Bazemore deal?

L Thomas / expirings and an early second gets you Baze for me. His contract maxes at 7.5 with 3 years. Yeah I would do that for a high second and relief from Baze's deal

NBA Metrics 101: What Is the Market Value for League's Top Trade Assets?

Kent Bazemore

2017-18 Per-Game Stats: 12.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 0.7 blocks

2017-18 Advanced Metrics: 14.6 PER, 2.37 RPM, 15.65 TPA

Kent Bazemore has played his way back into first-round-pick territory, though the Atlanta Hawks likely would have to take back a non-expiring contract in return. Such is the case for our hypothetical trade with the Denver Nuggets, who could use another defensive wing but would have to unload the remaining portion of Kenneth Faried's deal—$12,921,348 this season, then $13,764,045 next—to facilitate the transaction.

...while continuing to play beneficial defense, Bazemore has steadily increased his shooting percentages. Whereas he knocked down just 40.9 percent of his field-goal attempts, 34.6 percent of his deep tries and 70.8 percent of his shots from the charity stripe in 2016-17, he's upped his slash line to 41.5/38.8/80.2 this season. Now, the four-year, $70 million pact he inked in 2016 doesn't seem quite as unpalatable.

The Hawks still won't be able to get much value for him, however. He's owed too much money over the next two seasons (assuming he doesn't decline his 2019-20 player option) and is too mediocre as a scorer. But he has performed well enough for a rebuilding squad to make moving him a reasonable proposition.

Had Bazemore continued to struggle with his stroke, the Hawks would be the side looking to package picks with him to clear him from their books. Now, they have a chance to absorb a different salary and land an extra selection of their own.

Realistic Value, Realistic Return: Denver Nuggets trade Kenneth Faried and their 2018 first-round pick (lottery protected) to the Atlanta Hawks for Kent Bazemore.

Good to be reading this. Faried has two years left. For a mid-twenties to late first I'd love it. Similar to the deal talked about above, more salary, better pick. Two years does it for me.

Yeah, and Kenneth Faried would have solid value as a veteran PF to play alongside John Collins and potentially D Ayton.

This would be a solid move for both short term and long term.

Faried and the 17th pick in the draft (currently where Nuggs pick lands) for Baze? Yes!

I'm just glad some see Baze as now a tradeable contract with the Hawks possible getting something back in lieu of giving up something to move him.

Detroit is also in that pick range. So a deal with them taking on Luer and 1st.
Saw that Detroit interested in Fournier.

Bazemore has impressed this year, I'll admit that as one of his more vocal critics. If we can get back a contract that's less than Baze's three remaining years AND a first I'd like to make that trade yesterday... Maybe Millsap can put in a good word for Baze to the Nuggets' front office.

Wiz fan here. We need to dump Jason Smith and Chris McCollough to get under the tax, but giving up our 1st (22) is a massive overpay.

Any interest in moving up to 22?
- 24 and 31 might be a little steep for you guys... i think 22 and McCollough for 28, 31, and Dorsey about does it. Thoughts?

Apparently Kent Bazemore is trending up per Bleacher Report.

I would take that article as entertainment. I'm a Knicks fan and there's no way we're getting Kemba Walker in any deal that sends out Noah.

Yeah, I'm definitely taking it with a grain of salt.

I think the larger takeaways from articles like that:

A) CHA is desperate, in need of a reboot and might be willing to move Kemba -- their biggest trade chip -- if an appealing offer is made.

B) Bazemore is no longer the worthless asset he appeared to be just 6 months ago and might be appealing to a few second tier teams in need of a 3 & D player with playoff experience.

All it takes is two interested teams for the value to increase.

To respond to your final trade proposal...we'd consider what you had to offer. It'd depend on how aggressive our front office wants to be in Free Agency this summer and next.
