Re: 2017 New York Rangers Discussion
The potential of Bozak really depends on how you view this Rangers team. With Hank being on his last legs, I do think we'll see them make a push and try and trade for Bozak. If we can get a deal done around Bozak for Holden and something Id be all for it. One question is though, does AV survive much longer?

An excellent question. AV annoys me. Rangers need to get bigger, faster...this team is the little tug boat that could. It can’t win the big one.

Hmm...the trade rumors for Rick Nash no relation to Kevin Nash are heating up. IF the Rangers trade Nash, then they might as well trade Grabner as well. They can get a great deal for Grabner and some quality for Nash. Then go after Evander Kane who is set to be released from prison in Buffalo.

Isles vs Rangers matinee. Plavelec in goal. 2-1 Isles. Rangers had FOUR 2 on 1 odd man rushes in the 1st period alone...and ZERO goals.

Re: 2017 New York Rangers Discussion
Isles rookie and possible ROY Barzel gets his second goal. 4-1 Isles. Both goals against Shattenkirk.
IF AV gets fired, it'll be for not putting Lundqvist in against this team at home.
Edit: 5-1 Isles...Wow. Glad I couldn't make this game. Embarrassing.
I don't think it has anything to do with the Rangers play, they're simply NOT as talented. Too small. AV has lost this team.

With play like this, it’s making it a lot easier to decide to become sellers.

I agree. And the Rangers should be sellers. Their offense looked atrocious. Barring the Winter Classic, EIGHT games without being able to score more than 1 goal. They need to trade Grabner while his stock is high. My goodness, if they got a top 5 pick for Derek Stepan, then they'll get a very good pick for Grabner. Also need to make a decision on Nash who is playing well but just not executing. The good news is the fact, they DO have two VERY good wingers, a great defenseman in the works but I can't see all their fruit ripen until the next 2-3 seasons.

Get this pencil necked geek outta here!!!
The problems with the Rangers starts with AV’s skate till you drop system. It is over complicated. Leaves the goaltender naked to opposing forces. In order to make his system work, you need offensive talent. Rangers are lunch pail guys.
I think their Stanley Cup appearance is more attributed to Torrtela’s physical imprint, not AV’s system.

Re: 2017 New York Rangers Discussion
Rangers have dropped 9/10 to the Isles head to head, which I can't stand AV's "meh."
Yes, the players are somewhat to blame but they don't look engaged. I'm concerned about that. AV's system works WHEN you have FOUR healthy lines because it involves constantly changing lines and constantly skating. That doesn't work when you don't have the depth.
The Pens are next...followed by a VERY long road trip.
So we'll see where the Rangers stand after an embarrassing loss to the Isles.

Another punchless offensive show, another loss. Time to sell Rangers. You got 3 bright young guys in the minors. Time to bump that up to 4-5.

Re: 2017 New York Rangers Discussion
Rangers lose another one, had an early lead and then the floodgates opened. Rangers are a fringe playoff team at best right now and it's only about to get worse. Much like the Knicks, I can see some real changes coming soon.

Agreed. Rangers are a one and done low seed playoff team who will be bounced out of the first round.
Shattenkirk has been an "ok" pick up. The Power play has improved marginally but the goals against average has suffered. He's undersized. Keith Yandle seemed like a better fit for AV's system but he wanted more coin.
Bottom line is, the Rangers need to re-tool their lines.

It's sad, but Nieves, Carey and even Lettieri do a degree have given us more than we could've asked for. I mean at the start of the season we all knew the center position was going to be a weak link for us, but damn this has been worse then we could've imagined. In a season in which you needed two of Hayes, Miller and Vesey to step it up for us, we really haven't seen that at all be it injuries or just lack of production.
I mean just imagine if we didn't strike gold with Grabner last year? We both know this, this team doesn't need to re-tool their lines, we simply don't have the magic formula to turn his around. Aside from bumping Pavel's minutes up a few, I don't even have a plausible answer to even how to re-tool the lines.

Re: 2017 New York Rangers Discussion
They very much need to re-tool their lines. Let's start with the defense...
Brady Skjei: Big 23 year old hitter who is getting better on offense. Left alone defensively because Shattenkirk is too small and can't defend.
Nick Holden and Brendan Smith do their thing but very limited.
Rangers D needs to get a little faster. SPEED AND SIZE is what's missing. McDonagh can't do it alone.

Rangers Finally snap the losing streak against the lowly Flyers. But make no mistake, this team is flawed and I expect management to make some concerted effort to get younger, bigger, and faster as the season progresses. This is NOT a Stanley Cup winning team.

Yeah but once again, the Rangers can’t close a game when they should be destroying Buffalo. This is a one and done playoff team. It is nowhere near playing as well as it should.
I expect in the off season, major changes will begin.
