good signing...wilks just didn't have enough coordinator experience even though I liked him.
Shurmur got a raw deal in CLE and he got 9 wins in 2 years which actually is impressive for that sh*t team/organization.

Shurmur also is a great QB developer and can fix an offense. See what he does with Keenum/Theilen and diggs. OBJ has to happy about this offense.

Gotta think they go QB @ 2 now

no question about Rosen talent...just worried about his injury history. But Rosen/Darnold (either one) with Shurmur developing them seems amazing with Shurmurs track record

and I wanted Bill Belichick...but out of the realistic choices...Shurmur is a great choice considering we need to develop a new QB and he is one of the most qualified to do that.

Yah, I completely agree. I think Khaki Pants from UM woulda been good too, even with the mixed results in college.

those guys want player personnel control which I think mcdaniels wanted too. We weren't giving that up to a coach...never been the giants way. But I can't name one BB coaching tree that has been successful as a NFL coach. Shurmur has done a lot with a little.

To have no QB and lossing dalvin cook and an entirely new offensive line and still have a good offense and possibly getting to the superbowl is freakin impressive!

i mean the talent is still there from 2 years ago. Gotta figure out what we plan on doing with Apple.

If we Collins, Jack Rabbit, Vernon, JPP all back healthy.

Snacks and Tomlinson played well in the middle.

Need to address linebackers...and get a pass rush specialist.

Cockrell was a nice surprise, I would lock him up.

Interested to see who shurmur picks with his cooridinators...as the defensive guy probably will be an experienced DC because shurmur really doesn't handle the defense....he will probably pick a young guy like dorsey or deflippo for OC spot because Shurmur calls the plays I think.

thats my point on saying whats up with the defense. Who will be the coordinator. Having talent doesn't mean schit. Coaching is paramount in football. We should know this already. I kinda like defense guys as head coaches more than offensive. Better track records.

fair, don't disagree there. But Coughlin was an offensive guy and they can maybe get a del rio or someone like that (suspect HC but good defensive coordinator). I think the most important thing was the QB decision...it matters so much. Shurmur knows QB's and with him picking the next QB we are in good hands.

Also OBJ seems happy

he seems what diggs and theilen do in that offense and getting him back on board is so important for us. Also Shurmur was an offensive line guy too so you know he knows the importance there.

But back to defense we just gotta wait to find out who he picks...But I think the defens was more established. The offense was in flux...whos the future qb, getting OBJ back on right path, and fixing O-line...I think a vet DC can come in and do fine with this unit.

so you wanted a defensive guy...which is fine but wilks had one year as a coordinator (taking over for mcdermott who was nice) and patricia might be really good but be leery of a BB understudy especially on defense, its bascially his defense.

shurmur developed Donovan Mcnabb, made bradford and keenum look really good...and had a good offense losing Cook early this year with a brand new offensive line.

He also had a top 5 offense in Philly with Foles, Barkley, and Sanchez as the 3 QB's.

Especially with our QB decision looming I had no confidence Wilks or Patricia could handle that situation the way it needs to be handled...shurmur knows QB's

You speaking on the extreme minority. The top Football teams in the NFL are the majority defensive guys at the top. There is no but here. Thats a fact. Coughlin was super old school and was also from the parcells school of thought.UNless you having an all time QB at the helm it means nada about alot of these offense guys...like Mcarthy or Payton etc. I dont give a fucck about the Gmen offense if the defense is not up to par and elite. Defense being established again does not mean schit to me. I have seen talented defense fall apart under weak coordinators. I have also seen less talented defense play light out under gifted ones. Getting the right defense coordinator is CRUCIAL. End of story.

Also you speaking to the wrong person about what OBJ likes. Fucck that fruit cup mofo.

don't disagree, we don't know who that will be though...so we will just have to wait.

As far as OBJ he's still one of the most dynamic players in the NFL, our offense is sh*t without him.

Defense and running games win but the last two giants superbowl runs Plax and Nicks/Cruz had enormous impacts so I wouldn't just throw OBJ away for nothing...dude is a beast regardless how you feel about him personally.

Its also rare you win without good QB play (this year being an outlier for the NFC/AFC championship teams outside of brady). But if you groom and develop a great QB that opens up everything else.
