It would be awesome if he had some kind of non-disclosure agreement which indicated that if he disparaged the Bucks organization in any way after termination, he would have to forfeit some or all of his remaining severance pay.

It's a small universe for NBA coaching jobs. With his modest resume, Kidd would be wise not to set all of the bridges on fire....

We all know he won't be able to keep his big mouth shut.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

His recklessness, or lack of attention resulted in his downfall. I would say a good amount of people looked at this from an objective point of view.

I agree with that. What I'm talking about is the injection of rancor into the discussion and the likelihood that future discussions here will generally be less rancorous with the Kidd issue behind us.

You've been posting here too long to believe this. As long as this team is flailing, there will be a target that generates rancor. Last year, it was Jabari. This year, it has been Middleton. Jabari's return may swing the anger back towards his thread, especially as RFA approaches.

If he said anything outrageous then I missed it. This is the only thing I've heard from Kidd so far.

I think people are referring to the leaked convo about Giannis not wanting him out, which according to Shelburne came direct from Kidd.

Over time, Giannis is going to realize that Kidd leaked that conversation in an exploitative way. It made Kidd look better than he deserved, and Giannis look like a naive little kid still learning his way around the NBA. It was a huge mistake by Kidd, to potentially alienate his biggest supporter. There has been a lot in the press/twitter/etc from guys on the beat and in the building not to believe everything that comes out about the players loving him. I perceive that Giannis knows enough about basketball to realize that Jason was an alpha personality type with a great playing career and a ton of insight who at the same time was untrustworthy, self seeking, and far behind most head coaches in overall coaching acumen. I think many here still underestimate what Kidd knows about basketball, as far as individual technique and taking care of your body, skill development, etc. The man was an all time great point guard. The fair criticism is that his in game adjustments, rotations, and coaching chops (different than point guard instincts) were sub par for the highest level of the game. No one will convince me that Giannis didn't know that. As far as what he is supposed to say or do when Kidd got fired... its a difficult position to be in. He kind of said nothing, which is the right response. If he is too for or against it, he just gave the bloggers and talking heads ammo to criticize him.

Needless to say, I'm not worried Giannis is going to be upset about this 12 months from now. Or that he is too bent out of shape about it right now.

One thing to remember in all this was that it wasn't just a few of the players who didn't like working with him. There were a whole bunch of people in the FO who didn't like him too.

Hell the whole analytics team was basically ignored by the doofus.

I don't know... There's different layers to mind-games.

Kramer's "Instant Replay" made reference to the differences Lombardi had with the way he handled different personalities on the great Packer teams of the 60's. Starr was never shredded by Lombardi, but he really ripped into several of the other players, including future Hall of Famer's, when he felt they needed motivation. But that was fifty years ago - times and methods have changed.

Sometimes that method works, often times it's just destructive.

That was my first thought. My dad coached baseball and a quote stuck with me... "Some guys respond well if you yell at them, and it motivates them. Others respond to encouragement and will get angry if you're aggressive with them."

I could see Giannis being the first type, and Brogdon and Jabari being the second.

How much blind the Bucks fans can be and most certainly are it is something that time will tell very soon I am afraid.

My guess is that they will feel the same way the natives felt when they saw the Conquistadors’ firepower for the first time in their life and they realized they were fighting with wooden sticks and arrows while the Spaniards had the steel swords and the muskets…

So many coaches/managers don’t understand that, you can’t motivate every player in the same way. I was always one who liked being told where I fell short, and I’d go work on it without needing the yelling and repetitive instruction while I was working on it.

Some guys respond better to constant yelling I guess. You have to figure out what drives a person.

I saw that but there was nothing salacious in that conversation. I don't think Kidd has said anything bad about the organization at this time.
