Love this excerpt from Velasquez's piece in the JS today about Kidd's firing:

"With the team — led by Antetokounmpo, a two-time All-Star Game starter who has become a top player in the NBA — underperforming and possibly wasting a year of Antetokounmpo's excellence, a loud segment of the fanbase had turned on Kidd, with many adopting "#FireKidd" avatars on Twitter. There were audible boos at the Bradley Center over the past month when he was announced during pregame introductions."

You think Gardner would've referenced Twitter avatars in a newspaper article? This is important as it proves our message was heard loud and seen loudly and clearly by media and team management. Kudos to the #FireKidd initiative and all those who adopted the avatars!

Doc Rivers is a terrible coach who shoe horned his irrationally arrogant son into his rotations and alienated his entire team in the process. He was lucky enough to have a ton of star players under him, but he’s always been a terrible coach.

Jason Kidd is biracial. His dad was Black and his mom was White.

I'm not "disgusted" by the comments. I don't think they're especially relevant in this case, as I don't think even Stephen A was implying that the firing was racially motivated. It wasn't, obviously. Rather, he was drawing attention to the broader reality that, with his firing, there are only a handful of Black coaches in a sport which is 70% Black. Off the top of my head, I can only name 4 - Casey, Rivers, Gentry, and Lue. Three of those coaches are on the hot seat.

I don’t understand him diverting to race when the segment was about Kidd being fired and what really pissed me off and triggered me was him saying Giannis can’t shoot! I’m willing to bet he hasnt watched a full bucks game. I haven’t seen one educated take on the Bucks by anyone in national media it’s a Shame imo

I think the racial issue matters to some degree, but it's complicated, and ultimately irrelevant to the specific circumstances with Kidd's firing.

I agree with your sentiments about some of these national talking heads. It's clear that most of them don't follow the Bucks very closely. Only in the last year or so have you seen them talking about the Bucks, and that's usually when referencing Giannis. I don't put a lot of stock in their opinions on the team or its performance.

As soon as the team becomes a serious contender, they'll play closer attention.

In general, the entire lineup of ESPN clowns are race-baiters... SAS, Kellerman, The Jump, Michael and Jemele, a lot of the ancillary **** programs they have on. It’s a clear as day agenda that disney (and many other outlets) have laid out and it’s pervasive in their straight news programming as well. Unfortunately, it’s political and has invaded sports in a massive way this season as we saw in the NFL and the NBA.
