whoever the giants pick, it has to be eli's replacement.

unless they really think webb is the guy, but he's not.

chances are this is the case. Nothing suggests Reese/Mcadoo would be able to pick a franchise QB...so I think the giants would have to operate like they need to come away with Eli's replacement in this draft.

3 top 6 defenses in a row for the cardinals with not much talent on D. I like him a lot. Giants going in good direction.

He a blitz happy guy though. Which I love the aggression but the Cardinals had great DB's. Jenkins and Collins is a start.

Assuming they cut or trade apple, and they might cut DRC with his salary. I hope they bring back Cockrell he had a very impressive year for the giants.

Def need to think about improving FS though.

The Cardinals played a base 3-4 under Bettcher, but as illustrated by our Dan Pizzuta they used a variety of looks to create confusion. Pizzuta referred to it as “controlled chaos.”

This was a really good hire for the Giants. Cards threw out Andre Ellington and Blaine Gabbert on offense and still won 8 games off the backs of that defense. Developed my guy Budda Baker well last year too.

agreed, I was on JDR early thinking he was the best candidate, but I didn't know bettcher was going to be made available. He is def an aggressive DC so we will need to make sure our secondary is up to snuff. Really need to focus on getting a FS (the darian thompson 3rd round pick was another gem from Reese/Ross) and really let Landon do what landon does best and get up in the box and make plays.

yeah only downside I see, supposedly he was already a sneaky HC candidate. If he has a good year with the giants best believe he will be a target for a HC job. But I suppose if he is really good, we should have a really good year as well.

and you can't pull and shady chit on shurmur after 1 year because imo i feel like a part him becoming hc was that he's good at developing qb's.

giants wanted a guy like shurmur developing the qb they draft #2/as well as webb.

Arizona's numbers are very impressive. Collins is the perfect player in a blitz scheme too.

Sounds like a trade down to me. Gettlemen really wants to keep Eli around and as a starter. Been talking him up hard lately.

eli is back but almost every QB outside of maybe Rosen could use a year to sit behind a QB and learn. So I don't think it has too much of an effect on that. More so than Eli being back the trade down has to down the Webb, not Eli. At least in my opinion because Eli is a 1 year, max 2 year guy so it would behoove us to have a succession plan and its rare you ever draft this high.

I'm cool with either plan, but if they have a "franchise" type grade on one of these guys you have to take them.

Eli Manning will be the Giants’ man

One thing became obvious on Friday. In talking to Shumur, Tisch, Mara and Gettleman they have no doubt Eli Manning is the right quarterback for the Giants in 2018.

“He’s an outstanding football player and I can’t wait to get a chance to work with him,” Shurmur said. “I watched Eli throw a little bit this summer and I walked away saying he looked really, really good. He looked fit, he was throwing the ball well, the ball had good velocity coming off his hand.

“I think he’s got years left. How much? I don’t know, but I think he has time left.”

Gettleman agrees.

“I’ve watched Eli’s first eight years, nine years of his career and watching the games, going through them chronologically, I still saw a quarterback that knew what he was doing, had plenty of arm talent and can win games,” he said Friday via conference call.

giants aren't trading down, they're likely aren't going to have the #2 pick again for quite awhile ... don't let an opportunity slip away. they're going to draft a qb(which shurmur is great at developing) and have the him sit out the year.
