Haven't been watching the Greek Basketleague as much as I would like this year, but I think that McKenzie Moore (of UTEP) has been terrific playing for Lavrio BC. He's 6'7" athletic wing, who averages 17-6-5-3 with decent outside shooting and 2:1 ATO ratio for a surprise team. Has looked like a legitimate Euroleague player when facing Olympiacos & Panathinaikos and I think he can be a real gem for SL, camp and eventually the Herd next season.

The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, acquired James Blackmon Jr. and the returning player rights to Russ Smith from the Delaware 87ers in exchange for Cameron Oliver and Shannon Brown.

In a corresponding move, the Herd officially acquired Ricky Ledo. Wisconsin completed a trade with the Reno Bighorns on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for the Providence product’s NBA G League returning player rights. The 6-7, 197 pound guard will wear No. 15 for the Herd.

“James, Russ and Ricky will help the Herd address several needs,” said Herd General Manager Dave Dean. “The ability to put the ball in the basket is something these three players can do at a high level and we look forward to welcoming them to the Herd family.”

Blackmon (6-4, 200 pounds) appeared in 28 games (seven starts) with Delaware, averaging 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The former Hoosier shot 42.2 percent from the field and 38.6 from three-point range for the 87ers. Blackmon will wear No. 0 for the Herd.

Smith (6-0, 165) is averaging 34.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.9 steals per game with Fujian in the Chinese CBA and has scored 40+ points in 10 games this season. He appeared in 72 G League Games (2014-17), averaging 20.7 points, 6.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 3.5 rebounds per game throughout his career. He holds the NBA G League single-game scoring record (65 points). Smith played with Louisville for four seasons (2010-14), where he won a National Championship in 2013 and averaged 14.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.

It's so weird how much better run our G-league team is compared to our actual NBA one.

I'm one of the biggest G League followers on RealGM, but the G League will not be taken seriously until their regular A & B grade salaries of 19,000 & 26,000 are raised a decent amount. Then some of these guys who are playing in Europe for the money will move over to the G League for 50-100 K (example) for a shot at the NBA.

Though, I will admit, "Herd" was not the best choice for team name.

Pretty fun scuffle in Oshkosh. Coach Brady shoved a Memphis player (Comanche) who was holding onto Michael Dunigan’s leg.

Unfortunately Munford and Bolomboy have both left the game with injuries. Bolomboy’s came off a very hard fall.

DJ Wilson was a -41 tonight in 33 minutes. How on earth did anybody in our front office think this was a good pick? Somebody needed to step in and speak up.

Not at all defending DJ Wilson being trash, but single-game plus/minus is bad and people should stop using it. The team has cratered since they lost their MVP James Young.

Wilson has been by far the worst player on the Herd in 2/3 of the games I've seen him play this year. I thought he was a bust pre-draft. He's a lot worse than I expected.

Thing is you don't even have to see him play. He doesn't come close to passing the eye test standing still. It should have been a 5 second pass

He, along with Thon, debunks the draft and just Suki him up later myth. To a degree genetics and development give them a glass ceiling in the physical department. Have to overcome it with the physical gifts they do have (length, standstill leaping ability), skills, and mind for the game. Thon definitely doesn't have that. With Wilson I think it's more typical lack of gumption (Henson gene) and being able to flow from one move/decision to the next.

I want to trade him if he can make a deal come together where the team is upgraded. You want to trade him for 1/50 of the cap in space and a roster spot. Never advisable with a rookie 1st. At least give him the Vaughn treatment. You value immediate production from the 15th spot for some reason. Munford and Sons aren't providing value right now and that type of guy can be picked up at any time if need be.

To be fair, Chuck was offering to jettison West Coast Smoove into space for an open roster spot. What isn't being discussed, however, is the scientific side of the launch. An NBA player has never been in space before. This could go a looooooong way toward understanding how the space-time continuum affects the joints and ligaments and bones and organs of the larger humans. This type of cutting edge approach should not merely be shuffled aside like a dirty napkin. No, this is the type of pioneering effort that will put the Bucks back on the map. The map of the globe. :eyebrows:

I think it's archaic to even use "15th spot." Munford is a 2-way player who was signed to keep the new G-league team competitive, which our 17th overall pick is proven incapable of doing. With Bledsoe, Brogdon & Delly in the fold I'd doubt our front office ever envisioned Munford playing a meaningful minute of NBA basketball.

History has proven that there is always a worthy player to fill an open roster spot.
