Re: Tom Thibodeau, coach of death.
Injuries happen to all teams. Even Curry and KD have been having some injury problems these last 2 seasons. Greens been hurt this year. Has Kerr been running them into the ground?
I remember Deng said in an interview last year regarding that stuff, he basically said "good players wanna play lots of minutes". And that's true. I remember Iverson used to throw a fit every time Larry Brown gave him a breather. When Brown subbed him back in Iverson would yell " it's about effing time". Even the godfather of all this rest stuff, popovich, used to play Duncan heavy Minutes that would get frowned upon today when he was young.
Players wanna play. And if your in your 20s, you should be conditioned for it.

Re: Tom Thibodeau, coach of death.
Every player who's ever played for him talks highly of him.
So much that Taj Gibson, and Aaron Brooks followed him to Minnesota.
So much that the entire Bulls team turned their back on the organization when he was replaced with Hoiberg.
So much that word is...without his behind-the-scene work and emphasis on their defense, the Celtics would not have won a championship under Doc, alone
But uhh, yeah...if you just can't stand the way his head is shaped, I suppose that's good enough reason for us to burn him at the stake. Why not?

It's a complete myth that Thibs ran Derrick Rose into the ground. Rose was bound to screw his knees up at some point because he didn't know how to land properly.

In his mid thirties, MJ averaged 38 mins a night. Not a single missed game 3 years in a row. And they were roughly 100 game seasons when playoffs added in. I don't recall him ever failing in the playoffs because he ran out of gas

While this is true to some degree, Rose should not have played so many back-to-backs in 2011 while he was still injured. However, I blame the NBA for scheduling so many stints of 4 games in 5 nights that year more than I will blame Thibbs.

Rose was actually having problems with knee tendinitis before he even entered the league

it doesn't matter! the guy is a monster!
In all seriousness, I would imagine having a guy as your coach who lives and dies on every possession would get old after a while.

Another crazy one is Wilt Chamberlain playing 40+ minutes a game in his final season at 36 or 37 years old (can't remember).

Bologna Smasher wrote:I don't get the complaint about him playing his guys too many minutes. It was pretty common back in the day for players to play at least 40 minutes a game. It's nothing new. This rest crap has gotten out of hand, save it for the last few weeks of the season.
It's a different game now though, I'd say. With the advent of way more ball movement and 3 pointers and pace over the course of the past 5-10 years. The defensive complexity now is 10 times that of 15 years ago, where it was a lot of one-on-one low post play and mid-range.

Guys now are switching screens constantly and chasing guys around the 3-point line. In 1997, you could stand there and watch Barkley or Mark Jackson post up a guy for 20 seconds. Seriously. Not all minutes are created equal.

I know for a fact its been discussed in here before. Although I havent seen it yet.
How many careers has this guy killed?
I saw an article with Noah, who can't get a minute of basketball anymore. Now he is sent packing because he is angry. IM thinking. Bro you suck that's why, then im like wait, is it really Noah's fault this happened?
Noah was at a time one of the most valuable centers, like a Horford, but even better. Charles even said at one point "MVP canidate and future HOF'er" lol
Rose was an MVP and was going to have a career of the ages for a guy playing point guard.
Deng was a spectacular player who did everything right and was a great teammate.
Ben Gordon is in the loony bin.
Carlos Boozer went nuts and flew to China.
So many more I can't name right now. I feel like in 3 years we will start to see the effects on the Timbs players...
This guy is insane. The last straw for me was when I was doing research and he was playing his starters 40 minutes when they were out of playoffs and with some homegrown talent needing a chance to show themselves. He still ran these guys out for like 38-43 minutes a game.
He is out of his mind.
one thing all those guys have in common other than rose..they are old.
noah is 33? deng is aorund that age and boozer should be in his late 30's. id argue he gave all those guys prime opportunites and got them ALL paid.
werent there reports out a few years ago that management wanted thibs to scale back the minutes and usage of all those guys duirng contract years?
i believe gordon played for del negro. i get that you're upset but i guarantee all those guys appreciate the pay day thibs helped them get.

Guys, this is what Oliver Miller looked like when he was playing 33 MINUTES PER GAME, in 1996.

It was a different time.
