You continuously elected Rob Ford, the self proclaimed “biggest racist in the world”. Youre not really in position to cast the first stone.

Toronto fans are doing such a bad job defending themselves that I feel almost forced to take the other side just to make this somewhat fair. True Rob Ford was a crack smoking bigot. But he held office for only 4 years.

But what about Ray Flynn? Semi-functional alcoholic (whose out of control addiction was inexplicably hidden by the Boston media throughout his term) who began his career protesting black students being bussed into South Boston.

He replaced Mayor Kevin White whose main claim to fame was urban renewal. Bulldozing any white ethnic neighborhood where any significant number of blacks moved in order to prevent the neighborhood from "changing." Despite this being really unpopular he was continually re-elected. In fact the only reason he stopped being Mayor is not running for re-election was part of his plea agreement to avoid prison for his gross corruption. Otherwise he would assuredly have been re-elected.

And in Boston Mayors do not lose. At least not in a very long time.

Thomas Menino. Won until he dropped dead.
Raymond Flynn. Won until he was appointed Mayor to the Vatican (which in his drunken stupor he thought made him a super ambassador or something but that's another story).
Kevin White. Won every election and was retired by prosecutors rather than voters.
John Collins. Won until he got tired of running for Mayor.
John Hynes. Won every race for Mayor
James Michael Curley. In 1949 he did lose re-election. But it really was a Mayor vs Mayor race. You see Mayor Curley was thrown into federal prison for corruption but was given a presidential pardon by Harry Truman. While he was in federal lockup the acting Mayor was a trusted lieutenant of his, John Hynes. When Curley took back over he dissed Hynes and said he did more than a week than Hynes did in x number of months. And thus you had a Mayor vs Mayor race.
Maurice Tobin. You know. The guy the bridge is named after. Curley lackey. Breezed through re-elections.

I'll stop there since I'm already back into the 1930s. And since (as anyone who has ever lived in Boston knows) everything about Curley is both mind bogglingly audacious I'll end with this bit of trivia. Quoting from wikipedia.

When Curley was denied by a place in the Massachusetts delegation to the 1932 Democratic National Convention by Governor Joseph B. Ely, Curley engineered his selection as a delegate from Puerto Rico (under the alias of Alcalde Jaime Curleo). Some say his support was instrumental in winning the presidential nomination for Franklin D. Roosevelt, but he broke with Roosevelt after the president refused to appoint him Ambassador to Ireland.

Politics thread is that way. Take Fencer with you

I guess you also dont like The Weeknd, Ryan Gosling, Seth Rogen, Alessia Cara (Grammy new artist of the year...straight out Brampton biach), Nelly Furtado, Russell Peters, Ryan Reynolds, Mike Myers, either right?

We're racist? Not even close. We have free flowing immigration from all parts of the world. We celebrate multiculturalism. Our Prime Minister puts an emphasis on it. Meanwhile, your president is a self proclaimed bigot, racist, masongist, etc. He puts an emphasis on dividing people against one another in order to garner votes from mental midgets.

Putting a tax on foreign investment? Yes, we had to do it because foreigners love our $h1t too much. Our economy and political climate has been stable over the last decade which has led to foreigners tripping over themselves trying to get money into the country. The real estate market has skyrocketed to astronomical proportions as a result. The tax had to be put in to slow things down. In the same period, American greed led to the mortgage crisis, political instablity and a collapsing real estate market which hit the middle class hard.

Did I mention, we have free health care for all which costs only a fraction per capita of what the US spends overall? We take care of our own.

But this is a basketball forum so lets talk about basketball.....the sport rapidly rising in the North.....Toronto is producing NBA ballers at a pace Boston can only dream of. Jamal Murray, Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, Cory Joseph, etc...more coming like #1 prospect Rowan Barret in 2019. Who the hell has Boston produced of late?

Bring It.

Lol. Remember how Trump was labelled a racist for wanting to implement a merit-based immigration system where you were awarded points for language ability, education, work experience and skills? Well, I hate to tell you, but Canada has been using that sort of system for years. So while we haven't banned Muslim countries, to refer to our immigration system as "free flowing" is completely false. I work for the department, so don't try to argue with me on this one.

As for health care - yeah, we can afford to spend that money on health care because we are essentially relying on our good friends down south for protection. Look at our military expenditures compared to the United States. And who do you think we are going to call if someone picks on us? Yeah, that's right - USA! USA!

As for your analysis of the foreigner tax on real estate - dude, the collapse in America wasn't a result of foreigners buying up houses. It was greedy banks who kept issuing out loans to people who couldn't afford them.

You need to leave soon before Cave comes in and rips your terrible arguments to shreds.

Exactly, its disgusting. Ive seen racist **** everywhere I've been, Boston included obviously. Canada too, as much as they want to act holier than thou. Saying Boston is the most racist is a lame ass hyperbole they use as a crutch when they have nothing else to say.

No, you are definitely racist too. Again, google “Toronto racism” if you dont believe me.

And your misinformed on immigration, the orange skinned ass is trying to institute a system that closely mirrors what Canada has had in place for years. And Boston and the metro area are all sanctuary cities which welcome all immigrants, including illegal ones.

Finally, Boston didnt vote for Trump, so we nearly unanimously agree on our disdain for him.

Its the whole world, really. Europe struggles a ton too.

Rather than trying to deny its a problem and call out others, people should all recognize that it exists, its unfair and its time to work to fix it.

Yeah, Canada's treatment of its Indigenous people is a black eye that most Canadians conveniently forget about when we're too busy waving our finger at Trump's America.

I got called an "Effin ch****" when I attended a Blue Jays game in 1993. I was only grade 10 at the time. Went with my sister (grade 6) and 2 cousins (grade 7 and 9). Got to our seats, and found a guy sitting in my chair. When I showed him my ticket, he told me he wanted to trade seats so he could sit with his dad and brother, who were sitting in front of my chair. Now, the Blue Jays were rolling at the time and were the hottest ticket in town, so I guess these guys couldn't get 3 tickets together for the game and settled for 2, with another single in the next section over.

When I told him I couldn't switch seats because I was looking after my sister and cousins, he got mad and started arguing "Hey, you're all old enough to look after yourselves. Don't worry about it!". An usher came down and after looking at our tickets, finally asked the guy to return to his seat. As this guy got up, that's when he insulted me. Not one single person said anything to him. No one in our section, not even the usher. And to top it all off, we had to sit through out the rest of the game listening to this guy's dad and brother make racist commentary, with the occasional stink eye being delivered to us.

Now, should I paint the city of Toronto as being racist, because of 3 people? Nah, that would be brutal.

And FWIW, I was also called a gook in 2005 when I was there for Caribana weekend. I'm Filipino, and I've experienced racism in many places. Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg, Minneapolis, Grand Forks, and New York. Racism everywhere! Some were subtle, and some were blatant. Regardless - it's everywhere.

I'm from the Toronto area and there is definitely a racist element in the city. People really need to stop this holier than thou attitude. Does it matter who is more racist? Focus should be on how to fix it in any city.

And btw you guys got robbed by the refs against GS.

The Raptors are a great team. Great defense. Great offense. Great coaching. They get the ball in the hoop, they stop the other team from getting the ball in the hoop. It's going to take great preparation playing the Raptors and they provide many unique challenges.
