The guy is basically being blackballed over a controversial opinion, which shouldn't have anything to do with his career in football. Even James Harrison who said 9/11 was an inside job, still has a career.
Yeah he got screwed because we allow players to return after DUIs, domestic abuse, manslaughter and other similar legal violations, yet Kaepernick is treated worse than any of them, over something that isn't even in the same stratosphere. It's ridiculous standards that we set, all to promote nationalism and blind allegiance to the military. The fact that we treat something so arbitrary like kneeling for an anthem as if it's worse than people who beat their wives and kids and nearly kill people by selfishly choosing to drive drunk, or leading police on high speed chases is simply despicable and disgusting. Where are the consequences for THOSE people? Oh wait, that suddenly doesn't apply now.
Stop pretending that it's about the "distraction". It's not. It's completely about being butthurt over the national anthem and trying to punish him for the controversy. You have to be completely blind not to see that. They are making an example of him to promote this false ideology that says we HAVE to blindly support a country no matter how many problems it has with equality. That mentality is pathetic. Martin Luther King did something very controversial by protesting segregation. Many people were just as offended at African Americans eating at a white restaurant, as people were about the flag protests today, and you know what? They are pretty much the same type of mentally immature people that cater to fear and emotion over logic and reason. Non violent protest is what this country is all about, and seeing people punished for exercising that very right is ludicrous and absurd. The only distraction is ignoring the reason the protest was started in the first place rather than complaining about the method of protest in itself. Things like this are SUPPOSED to grab people's attention. You have to stand out sometimes to orchestrate change. The problem is the conservative right, treating him like he's evil over it instead of addressing the issues or even acknowledging them. It's a pathetic cop out.
- Kap sucks. This isn't the same QB that went (*carried) to the Super Bowl. Once teams figured out how to stop his legs, he couldn't make it as a pocket QB. He couldn't even beat out the 49ers crappy backups. Kept losing game after game. If he was decent, he might still be in the league. He's just not worth the gamble from a business perspective.
- Apples and oranges. Players who get in trouble do face consequences -- they're suspended, pay their due, and come back. Kapernick was/is an ongoing DIVISIVE distraction (flipping off the flag basically, supporting a BLM "cause" that ACTUALLY resulted in the deaths of cops in Dallas and Baton Rouge). Plus to the league and owners (ya know, a business trying to make money), it affects their bottom line (which gives entitled Kapernick the ability to make millions to play a game). How is this difficult to understand?
- You want it all ways. Of course he can protest. People don't HAVE to support his cause. How many people are activists at THEIR JOBS. Do you protest at your job on divisive racial and political grounds? This is called consequences to actions aka the real world. And Kap ain't no MLK JR. His cause isn't even just. BLM needs to quit acting like what they're saying is the gospel truth, some righteous cause, some "given" that we as a society already know as the truth. It's not. Kap's stupid cause wasn't even ACCURATE.
Blacks are not oppressed. Fake & false projection news which is only being fueled by the black community's need for free stuff (reparations, etc), blame culture, lack of self-accountability, old & outdated grudges, boogeyman paranoia, and complete lack of self awareness to understand that any conditions are due to natural cause/effect results.
This issue isn't that difficult to understand. It was a business move for the NFL, period.
