Clifford's headaches might actually just be a concussion caused by somebody smacking him in the head after Clifford them how he felt about MCW.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
I just can’t wait for these coaches to be fired. Like I’m highly anticipating it and hoping we don’t trade any good players like Lamb or Monk in the process because they don’t fit into Clifford’s plans.

Lamb and Monk should stay. The rest of the bench, with the exception of Graham and Bacon, should be fair game.....heck, MKG can go on the block for the right package.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
While most of the trade chatter concerning the Bucks has revolved around centers – DeAndre Jordan, Hassan Whiteside, JaVale McGee, etc. – the Bucks have explored obtaining a shooting guard.
League sources said the Bucks had contacted the Hornets about rookie Malik Monk, the 11th overall pick in last June’s draft.
There is apparently a split in the Hornets’ hierarchy as to whether they should keep Monk or move him. Monk has struggled for much of the season, averaging a pedestrian 5.2 points on just 33 percent shooting.
Monk’s best game of the season came against the Bucks on Nov. 1. He torched them for 25 points, connecting of five of eight treys.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
I’m guessing Clifford wants to move him for some kinda value to save his job and Cho/MJ/Buzz are against it. It’s just a rumor but there’s usually a fire where there’s smoke even if it’s a small one that can be doused by a splash of water.

I'd do a trade with MIL centered on Brogdon

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
Wouldnt be surprised if Monk is gone. This organization is ran by clowns and a lot of them are desperate to save their jobs. There is no doubt Clifford is in favor of trading Monk. Under normal circumstances I would assume Cho would most likely be the one in favor of keeping him, but he might see trading him as his only possible out for saving his job.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
If they trade Monk, I'm going to take a break from this team of fools. On the broadcast last night, they were talking about Cliff praising MCW for his recent play. What? Really? Did I miss something? Dude throws up bricks and is not even guarded, misses lay ups regularly. Anything MCW gives us on defense is severely negated by his offense.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
Don't trade the kid just so a middling coach can *maybe* get to 40ish wins and save his job. It would be beyond stupid unless we're getting a return back that is equal to/greater than a lottery pick. I'm not incredibly bullish on Monk, but I do remember tons of teens/rooks who either sucked terribly or never got playing time in their first year yet became fine NBA players. Was Kemba really any better than Monk as a rook? I recall he was pretty dismal. I also know Cliff is terrible at developing talent, so send him down the road not our young players.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
Steve Clifford literally gets aroused watching someone cut off a fast break, but he could care less if his team ever scores a point. The guy hates offense in a sport and league built around offense. The Hornets also hate their fans and are committed to getting rid of anyone of value (a tradition established in 1995 which continues to this day).
I'm not that sold on Luke Walton, but I feel like Luke is a far more modern coach than Clifford. Clifford is by all accounts a good guy but someone who is not suited for the modern NBA. Every decision made to suit him is a further step toward the consistent level of failure this franchise (and, for that matter, the Lakers too) are largely synonymous with in recent years.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
Monk is going to be a star. He knows how to score. He's a 19 year old stuck on a team with a poor offensive system and no offensive threats outside of the PG to provide open shots. They don't spread the floor and they play a journeyman with bad knees and possibly the worst offensive game of anyone under 6'7" in the league over him. They tried to make him into a PG when he's a SG. It's a recipe for failure for Monk. And the rest of our team for that matter.
Fix what's around him, let him develop and watch the difference in a year or two.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Just remember, every day you pull for the Hornets is another day that Rich Cho and Steve Clifford will take a big, steaming dump on you.

Re: We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread
That would be a terrible trade for Miami unless the picks they get are 1st rounders. Makes me doubt it, would Riley really trade Whiteside for a guy with bad knees? Doesn't seem like his sort of move.

I got a feeling that Brogdon is the player we’re after along with picks because Milwaukee already got Delly as backup PG depth if they lose Brogdon.
As much as I want for us to get a back a backup PG I got a feeling that this will be a very bad move in hindsight,

That’s what smart teams/coaches do.

If we trade Monk for Brogdon, remember that we simply could have drafted Brogdon had we not traded our pick for Marco Belinelli...
