Jeff Hornacek considering turning the PG position back over to Jarrett Jack

Post#1 » by 2010 » Thu Mar 8, 2018 12:31 am

As the Mudiay-Ntilikina tandem struggles, Hornacek admitted he’s “talked about’’ turning back to former starting point guard Jarrett Jack to restore order. Jack, by management’s request, has been a DNP for all six games out of the All-Star Break.

This is getting out of hand. And I don’t completely blame Hornacek for it. The front office has to commit to developing youth. They need to relieve the coach of the pressure to win games in a lost season.

They seem committed to being stuck in the middle. It’s the same thing that tripped Phil up. One minute rebuilding, next minute win-now.

The piece about Jack seems so out of place with the article. I'm just of the belief if Jeff goes back to Jack it wont end pretty.

If he makes that call on his own despite management giving him an edict to sit Jack after the all star break and develop Mudiay, Frank, and Iverson then he needs to be fired on the spot. Even if it means Rambis finishing out the year as head coach.

Unlike Burke, Jack is tall, athletic, and a defensive wizard who's also great at getting into the defense...right.

This is such a mess.

To be honest, it's not like giving the young guys all the minutes is actually developing them. Jeff is garbage, said it last year, his offense is basically is the "do your thing" offense.

...and this can be the reason why the Knicks CANNOT be a franchise that would develop players from scratch. No patience for developing the young guys and just wants to let the vets do the heavy lifting.

When I was 16 I had to drive my drunk uncle and Dad home from the bar )I also had 2 beers and only had a permit at the time.

Ridiculous. No desire to develop young players at all? Burke can't start? No reason at all to play Jack/Lee/Beasley ever again. Release 2 and trade the other this summer. Enough with Jeff and his vet obsession. This season was supposed to be about youth and player development. What happened to that?

Mudiay isnt an NBA player. Frank belongs in the D league and Burke's kind of a gunner. Jack at least brings a professional presence. I dont really blame him tbh.

I doubt it. This is just what Jeff does. This is why he randomly started playing Courtney Lee big minutes 3 games ago against the Clippers just after the kids had been playing very well against the Warriors with Mudiay scoring 20 pts, Iverson dropping 18 pts, and Frank getting 13 pts.

Then we had 3 days off between games and he randomly played the kids limited mins with quick hooks and played Lee big minutes against the Clips and you could tell it threw them off and they been erratic ever since that LAC game. Jeff constantly does this. Not even game to game but he does in within a single game as well. We will see a young player have a good 1st half then sit almost the entire 2nd half. Young talent needs continuity and a routine to perform and develop optimally. No player (young or old) can perform effectively looking over his shoulder.

Sounds to me like he'd like to get fired TBH.

horny just can’t stay away from those aging vets . he’s playing for cheap wins to pad his pathetic coaching record. he doesn’t give af about developing the youth on his team because he knows he’s not going to be here to see it through.
