Feel sorry for the Spurs' fans. Totally outplayed Juve and still lost. But that's how Juve wins like three quarters of their games.

15% of the match played in your own third of the pitch against an opponent who needed to score multiple goals to advance for the majority of the game and you get knocked out. You don't see that too often in football.

The one silver lining I can think of is that Buffon's quest for the CL can continue.
I like Juventus a lot and admire the professional and efficient way they play football. But man is it annoying to be on the receiving end of it, especially being so close to going through.
Imagine winning your group and drawing them...

Re: 2017-18 UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread
Mourinho is by far the most overrated coach.
I'd rather go out like Guardiola's teams, trying to actually play positive attacking football than this scared, piss poor excuse for an approach that this guy sends his teams out with.
What's the point of buying all that class when you're stuck in a 80s/90s catenaccio mindset.
Absolutely pathetic.
This shouldn't even be a contest, but when you play for results like United did in the first leg, it tends to come back to bite you in the ass.

I've never seen United, or a Mourinho team in general, defend quite this poorly in a knockout game

With a roster like that you shouldn´t be scared of the opponent. That´s just awful coaching from Mourinho.

Re: 2017-18 UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread
I keep thinking that Mourinho would be a good fit for USA NT coach.
USA Media would go crazy for him, he is "big name" that would announce start of new era of US football and would bring tactical improvements for them, he would get a lot of money with little to no pressure and would get to play from underdog position once again, thing he probably does best. Yeah he wouldn't play flashy and interesting but he would probably get you qualified for big stage competitions such as Copa America and World Cup.

I beg to differ, Mourinho is a dinosaur, and his deficiencies as a coach on the big stage have simply been masked by the resources he's had at his disposal over the years.
There's nothing remarkable about his tactics, there's nothing he would bring to the US national team to get them to the next level.
If you're expecting him to improve the players of the national squad just look at what he's happened to Pogba and Martial during his tenure.
Mou used to mock Guardiola mercilessly for his tactics and approach, and look how that's turned out.
The game has passed him by.

Who does he have? Pogba super overrated, Sanchez stopped playing right after that payday, Lukaku is above average, but nothing special. 0 legit defenders. It's ridiculous how he's still 2nd in EPL with this squad.
