You're welcome to talk about other rookies. Just because other people don't want to doesn't mean it's not welcomed.

I think you missed the point big fella. The Simmons highlight clips were posted because they were against the Jazz.
Well, I looked for Simmons 40 point game against the Jazz, but I couldn't find it. I thought maybe I'd just use one of his other 40 point games, but I couldn't find them either.
His tumbleweed video was nice though, don't ya think?
Seriously though, Mitchell just had a 35 point game, and some Einstein decides to post Simmon's highlights from months ago. If Ben is so great, why do we have to go back that far to post highlights? Seems like there should be something more current. Or, now here's an idea, just recognize that Mitchell scored 35 points and not feel like we need to post something old that tries to compensate for Ben not scoring 35 points. It's crazy, but it just might work.
35 points on 36 shots and you think that is impressive????![]()
As Sixers fans we've seen that movie already, it was called The Chucking Adventures of Allen Iverson. ::SPOLER ALERT::: It doesn't have a happy ending.
Why do you keep comparing Mitchell to Iverson when Wade is much more apt comparison?
We get it, you want Simmons to win the ROTY. But try joining us here in the real world for a bit.

Funny, cause AI WON ROY. Wade never did. Do some research before spouting off. At least I am comparing him to a player that won the freaking award.

I don't care what AI won. Mitchell is much closer as a prospect in terms of both style, ability and projection to Wade than Iverson.
And you're not comparing Mitchell to AI in an effort to prop him up, but to disparage him. And using your own player to do it which is really, really odd. But I guess you really want that ROTY for Simmons.

Actually, I said several posts ago, he is similar like Iverson and just needs to work on his efficiency and shot selection so he can ascend beyond what Iverson got stuck becoming.
I want the kid to do well, but I also see a lot of Iverson in him especially with how Utah essentially lets him do what he wants in the 4th.

You can see as much Iverson in him as you want, it doesn't mean the comparison is apt here in the real world.

Why is your vision of Wade more accurate than my vision of Iverson? They are both just subjective observations. So your point of view is no more in the real world than mine.

Because Mitchell plays NOTHING like Iverson and plays very similarily to Wade, who also happens to have the same exact body type and measurements as Wade.
But here you comparing him to a 6 foot skinny PG that can't even dunk.

Michael Jordan and Greg Oden is similar.

Google “Iverson dunk on Camby” and enjoy.
(I wonder how long it took for Camby to get rid of the smell of AI’s junk)

Stop embarrasing tourself. Just stop.
In terms of style of play and shot selection, I see a TON of similarities between Mitchell and AI. Both are supremely confident, “I am in range when I walk into the gym” shooters. Both guys can miss 10-15 shots in a row, but then hit killer shots in the clutch. Both guys believe that they are unguardable...and their shot selection reflects that. Both guys play as if they know they are the only ones on their respective teams that can score the ball in the guts of the game.
To compare Mitchell to ALLEN FREAKING IVERSON is a massive compliment. Fans of Mitchell can only hope that he has a career close to as good as a HOF like “The Answer”.
Just because people like me think that Simmons is a better player that Mitchell doesn’t mean that we don’t have massive respect for what Mitchell is doing to help his team win. I certainly do. I just don’t think he is better than Simmons - that’s all.
Peace.

That is YOUR OPINION. Frankly, I don’t remember Wade jacking 35 shots a game as a rookie (I know that AI did). He averaged 13 shots a game as a rookie, and only averaged over 20 shots a game once in his career. The reality is that Utah needs Mitchell to jack 20+ shots a game to have a shot to win, just like the Sixers needed Iverson to jack 20+ shots a game to win.
My guess is you are rejecting this Mitchell/AI comparison because it may not seem flattering - you like the Wade comp more. Perhaps over time, the Wade comp may be more apt. For now, IN MY OPINION, the best comp for what Mitchell does in the Utah offense is Iverson - a volume shooter who needs to score the ball in order to help his team win.
Feel free to disagree.

I feel like I'll be contributing to the arguing if I post something positive about Simmons, lol. Well, here it is anyway.
After last game, Simmons BPM rose above 4.0 as a rookie. Joins 13 other players to do that.
1. Michael Jordan
2. Alvan Adams
3. David Robinson
4. Chris Paul
5. Bill Walton
6. Arvydas Sabonis
7. Tim Duncan
8. Magic Johnson
9. Rich Kelley
10. Larry Bird
11. Chris Webber
12. Nikola Jokic
13. Kawhi Leonard
14. Ben Simmons

How is this a debate still?
Mitchell is the key cog to a playoff team in the loaded west. 76ers have mostly been a disappointment and Simmons just gets his easy stats but doesn’t have much impact on w/L

I am a 40+ year Sixers fan...and AI is my all-time favorite Sixer. More than Doc. More than Barkley. To compare Mitchell to AI is extremely high praise. He HAD to be a volume shooter - because for the majority of his career, the Sixers did not have anyone else to score the ball in the guts of the game. He never backed down...he took a TON of physical abuse...he was a WARRIOR.
The biggest argument that Mitchell fans make when confronted with 14-for-36 shooting nights like last night is, “who else is going to shoot the ball? He is the guy with the COJONES GIGANTES in the guts of the game...and they will live with the 9-for-28’s and 14-for-36’s...as long as they get the W.
That is quintessential AI.
That isn’t a “salty” Simmons fan talking. That is a lifelong AI fan talking.
I am done with this. Bye.
