Fultz playing his first minute atm.

A TO in about 5 seconds, a foul, then read a screen well and got to the basket for an open lay up. The crowd's really getting around him.

10/8/4 in a solid (re)debut for the rookie Fultz.

Great game and near triple double for Lonzo tonight. 15 pts on 7/8 shooting, 11 assists and 8 boards as well as a couple steals.

He looks like a different player without ball hog napoleon complex IT in the lineup.

Coach just has to stop running him into the ground with these 40+ minute games. He was on 33-34 minutes at 3 quarter time FFS! Give the poor guy a break once in a while.

Thank god we can also start to talk about a new rookie in this thread. Fultz could really have an impact for the remainder of the season. He's past the first test; from what we've seen he is not likely to be a Bennett-esque waste of a #1 pick.

agreed, he passed the eye test tonight

but even if he Simmons grow certain areas of their game, can they realistically ever play long periods together and be successful ?

Yep. Kelle is slated to be Kyrie to Ben's Bron. Provides the 3 level scorer the Sixers are missing if he gets his stroke and confidence back.

Agree, the NBA is becoming more about positionless (or multi-position) basketball. If Fultz can play off the ball next to Simmons, substitute early, and then play as the main ballhandler in the second unit - he'll be a great fit for them. It would be similar to how the Heat always tried to have one of their 'big three' on the floor at all times.

Dude, seriously, why don't you drive to N.Y.C., stand outside corporate offices and cry all day that league rules for defining a rookie season aren't fair and that you demand change.

I am sure Adam Silver could use a good laugh.

For the Lakers rookie tonight (both double-double):

Kuzma: 20/11
Lonzo: 15/8/11

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

Why would you keep arguing with other fans about this rule like it would afect anything ?

Rule is the rule. And you keep repeating you dont like it here wont change it.

Because my opinion is that the rule doesn't make sense, and thus, it would be a complete and utter travesty for a TRUE rookie who's having this type of year to miss out on the award in favor of a player who's already spent an entire season in the NBA.

How is it that Simmons should be punished for sitting out the season with a serious and debilitating injury?

He didn't travel with the team.

He didn't get to practice or train properly, let alone play.

Meanwhile the other rookies were able to get another season under their belts in a competitive College environment which clearly helps with their development.

Which would have been more beneficial? Another season of actually playing, or sitting around on the couch for the majority of the season in a boot trying to rehab a potentially chronic foot injury?

In other words he wouldn't mesh well with LeBron.

Most important, 8 assists to 1 turnover. After a year off from competitive basketball, I don't count summer league as competitive.

Here's the Fultz vid, shows the good and the bad (thank you, Mr Dawkins). Game action doesn't start until 51 seconds on, fyi:

I thought he looked worse than the numbers showed (his misses were ugly, a lot of his dimes were meh, and his timing seemed way off) but dude can definitely create in his sleep and he's going to be something when his confidence returns. If his range comes back--he still looked limited to about 16 ft and in today--we all need to buckle up.

Just one game so not a lot of weight to it but i said all last year that i think even a healthy Fultz would need time to figure out what he could and couldnt get away with moveset wise. He can be a bit predictable at times and he'd have to adjust to what he needs to do in order to turn those contested jumpers into created open looks. You can see in the vid how the spin was cutoff and the collapse caught him off guard. That was the main reason why i said Philly was a perfect fit. Ben could pass him into space initially and allow Kelle to attack closeouts which maximizes his herky jerky drive game and keeps defenders off balance. Once he develops the spacial awareness for this level he then turns into the PnR marvel he can be with either Bencredible or Biid and present the 3 level scoring threat.
