Fixing the bench is going to be difficult from an asset position and players not trusting Thibs to give them minutes perspective.

More likely Glen tells Thibs, “unless there is a difference maker let’s save the money”

But we decided to give away Rubio to replace him with a older point guard with 5M more in his contract.
Those 5M is a huge difference. Is the difference between to have another guy like Jerebko or Thabo Sefolosha into to the rotation or NOT.
Eventhough we replaced lavine for butler, our defense is still bad because we replaced 2 good ones in rubio and rush for teague and crawford.

We have the 12th highest payroll, and projected 7th for next year.

Minnesota’s offense was phenomenal with Rick Adelman and still good with Flip (despite his shortcomings on adapting to the modern NBA). The issue is that Minnesota runs an iso-heavy offense that devalues efficiency, this idea that Ricky was a reason that our spacing was poor the previous two seasons is objectively ludicrous (every star proved it), and that the terrible offense and prioritizing of player roles is clearly the problem that leads to such inefficiency.
Cut out Jamal, limit Wiggins, feature Towns, and give Nemanja free-reign. This is basic stuff that literally anybody should realize would make our spacing and efficiency better. It is painfully obvious.
The Wolves offensive frequency for iso is under 9% and one of the highest rated offenses in the league.
We are one of the highest rated offenses because of the sheer fire-power on the team. Come on man, we are kidding ourselves if we think that Minnesota is well-coached offensively, it’s painfully obvious how over-utilized Wiggins and Crawford are, it limits Minnesota’s offensive ceiling considerably.
As a side note, technically shots that are one screen into a jumper are not considered isolation, that is why the statistic is so low. I think we both recognize that one of our most common play sets is one screen for the ball-handler into shot, which is (if we are being honest) a completely stagnant, isolation type of offensive principal.
You are one of the too few that "get it" when it come to our very poor coaching. We score because we have 3 all-stars and talent that gets it done regardless. Just think if we moved the ball and defended a little.
Watching Villanova play yesterday had me longing for that style of basketball. Some would say we don't have the talent to play that way and I totally disagree.

It is what made us miss out on C.J. Miles. He was desperately trying to come here, but we were a couple million off from making it happen.

You're too harsh on your team. You were missing both Butler and Teague. There was no way you were winning this game vs a full strength Utah team.

Kat is a confidence guy and he feeds off that energy to get going. But, he lost the match up in his head vs gobert before the game even started.

I did not expect to win at all, my problems are pretty much copy-and-paste game in and game out at this point with Minnesota this season.
Good game though buddy, Utah is an awesome team to watch.

Crawford yea. not working out.
It's always a team willing to take a bad deal. The wolves just have to find one

I think we are probably the worst team in the playoff on the Western conference side. This is year 1 on the path to being good and hopefully we can refine and improve every year but we don't got it right now. This defense will not cut it. Our offense will not cut it. I don't think our style of play has legs either. I think Thibs will have to make some big changes if he wants to build a real contender here and I don't know if he's flexible enough to do that.
I think what we lack most as a team is an identity. We got no bread and butter, no hallmark, we don't have the confidence and poise that comes with having that. I think we will make the playoffs, this loss wont stop that, but this was a playoff game and we were not at all up to the challenge. We got blown out at home and I am not seeing the fight. I have enjoyed this season and look forward to the playoffs but this is def not a year where I am saying "I love this team!" We are better than we have been in a long time but as Chuck would say "we aint ready." And I am even talking about that as a contender. We aint ready to play a solid playoff team.
This is a horrible failed season regardless if we make the playoffs. If the coach had any character or love for MN he would resign immediately. We will never win big with this coach.

And there were ways to upgrade the bench even with Teague and Taj getting their deals
Gerald Green signed for the vet min. He would easily be the best bench wing guys you have. And he shoots the 3 at a high clip and makes them.
Just one move like that would have went a long way
Add in not signing Jamal and you guys would have had more to offer Daunte Cunningham.
Those 2 guys easily upgrade the current bench and they didn't cost a lot

I would love to see Thibs scream at Lonzo. That alone would be a show esp. once LaVar is back and has forced his other breed into some NBA team.

Hes had good defensive anchors his whole coaching career, this is the first time he doesnt. So, instead of adjusting his defense to fit his players, he is forcing kat and dieng into something they arent.

Raptors tried to trade 24yr old Valuncunis ( 3 yrs left on deal) with 23rd pick attaches last year and couldn’t find a taker
Way less space upcoming offseason
Might not be possible

What is the $$ difference between the roster spot charge and vet minimum this late in season ?
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
