There would probably be 10 other teams who could and would offer more.

The fact that George mentions Melo and not Adams baffles me. This isn’t the first time either.

He's not wrong. Melo has more influence in the NBA and could potentially recruit players. Adams can't.

Anyone who would rather play with Melo than Adams is a low bbiq player and want improve the team.

How much are you going to give up for a player that only has one year left on their contract and is coming back from an injury that basically cost them a whole season? There are teams that could have destroyed OKC's offer for PG without trying, but they didn't because of the rental aspect. I imagine Kawhi's value could be similarly suppressed, especially considering it would mean he turned down a supermax contract offer from SA.

Either PG doesn't understand the CBA or he's just playing with fans. They can't recruit anyone because there is no space. Unless PG and Melo opt out and sign vet minimum deals then OKC could have some cap space to play with.

This isn't about wanting to play with somebody. I think it's more about standing and reputation. And if this team wide delusion helps us retain him, I'm all for it, especially since we're not doing anything this season anyway.Kizz Fastfists wrote:Pillendreher wrote:There would probably be 10 other teams who could and would offer more.

Well you of course still have minimum contracts and the taxpayer MLE, but those also come with tax implications, so...

This. Melo is no longer a good player but he has a lot of influence in the NBA. I think he's still viewed as a good player by his pairs. That's all that matters to recruit some players.
