Quin Snyder for COY

Post#1 » by El Hespiritu » Wed Apr 11, 2018 1:07 am

(If there's another similar thread, I missed it; please, let me know)

I think our SociopathicEyes coach... he deserves the COY no less than Brad The Implicator Stevens or Mike 7secondsandonefoulormore D'Antoni or another candidates I've read of.

Of course I'm biased judging him.
I'm sure I'm not unfair.

Addendo: Is there any rumour about Quin's health?
If I was his grandma, I'd be deeply concerned.

Yea I think so. Might depend on tomorrow night. 3rd seed in the West for a team with zero All-Stars and coming back from looking at a top 5 pick halfway through the season. Uh, yea he is in the conversation. Locke has a great rundown of the various decisions throughout the season that were borne out to be good on his podcast.

I think he definitely deserves. So does Stevens though.

I do think if the Jazz finish 3rd there is a very strong argument for him. He's done an amazing job (outside of that Boston game which we won't take about).

I actually think Casey wins this but Q probably had the best season. This team was 19-28. Great job.

Casey, Stevens, Brown, Pop, Snyder, even Spo all did an outstanding job, but D'Antoni should be COY.

Kobe endorses Snyder
I didn't realize that he was on the Lakers coaching staff and is still friends with Kobe

Donovan Mitchell and Dante working with Kobe this off season would be legit.
Ingles is cooked.

Sttots, Stevens, Snyder in this order after last one as for me

PS as its easy to see, and knowing from our past, when you want to hire a good coach it got to be guy with last name starting on S :P :)

If the awards were given purely upon expectations coming in vs results going out, Snyder would be unanimous.....

It seemed at one point that Stevens would win it easily. Then I heard about the Toronto`s coach.

I think Snyder has a small chance to get it. Who knows.

If he gets it, it is going to be well deserved. Losing to Portland and by that losing the third seed may be hurt a little bit his chances.

What about the 2003-04 Jazz team that was supposed to be one of the worst teams in history and ended up with a 42-40 record?

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I didn't expect results of Toronto and Sixers any more than Jazz streaks.

This is one award where like 5 different people could win. The starters on NBA TV called it the year of the coach. Their pick was Dwane Casey, but I think it could easily go to D'Antoni or Brad Stevens. The jazz getting homecourt would have helped Snyder's case against those guys.

Nate Silver had us winning just a couple less games according to the thread RD necroed just below. IMO there are nuances and specific decisions that make Snyder look really good but national awards are not about specifics most of the time, they are backed up with simple takes.
