Minimal pain and no vision problems seems ok to play for me. I hope they are just posturing and waiting to surprise everyone before the game Saturday.

Something about making the players less presentable. Same reason they orginally banned kinetic tape. NBA doesn't like things that look sloppy.

Wonder why they're even trying the black mask. If it's been banned, Jojo really needs to get some practice in the clear one... Doesn't seem like great planning on the team's end, unless they've gotten special permission. With our luck they haven't and Embiid won't be comfortable with the clear one...

Ugh, that's disappointing.

If they lose the first game I bet he plays the second one.

I'm ok with him sitting out the first two games as long as we play Milwaukee. If Washington beats Orlando tonight, it'll be tough to hold our own against the Wizards without Embiid.

Cause game 3 likely Saturday which gives him almost 3 weeks from surgery. Makes sense.

How do you think we perform against Miami?

How could game 3 be Saturday when game 1 will be on Saturday? Monday would be game 2 and game 3 would be Wednesday or Thursday st the latest.

I find it weird that they'd let him play 50 minutes in a mere regular season multi overtime game vs OKC with a back strain when he's had a history of a back injury, and back injuries can be the most serious types of ailments, but wouldn't allow him to play in a playoff game with just a broken orbital bone, and a mask to protect it.

if they hold him out till game 3.. then legit I dont know what to say..

dude can play with a mask.. ffs...

Like if we win game 1, then sure, I can understand.. but if we dont.. he better be out there game 2 because going to Miami down 0-2 with the next 2 in Miami is not how you win a playoff series

Isn’t it a pain tolerance thing? If he says he can play game one then why won’t they clear him if the bone is healed?

Wouldn't be too worried... They've been pretty clear about the plan... I think he plays game 3 at the latest... Still one more day too, that can change... Remember when he was out, and then he played... #Sixers...

If it was just a pain tolerance thing then why would wearing a mask be a requirement?

I wonder if it is just in a fragile state right now and taking a hit there could reset the clock on his recovery. Theoretically getting hit there could make swelling go back up and potentially introduce the double vision that we are trying to avoid.

I think we want to get him to the point where a reasonably likely shot to the face won’t run that risk.

He's less than 2 weeks from facial surgery. Until he can run up and down the court consistently without having pain, he won't play.

We don’t even know how extensive the fracture was. I’m a medical professional and have eye surgeon friends. Embiid May have had successful eye surgery but we don’t know the extent of the repair.

My hunch is sixers won’t play him unless they are losing 0-2 and absolutely need him back by game 3. I am starting to feel almost certain he’s out at least at least to game 3 regardless. That takes embiid to about 18 days post surgery. But if sixers can still be up 2-1. Embid may not be back to game 4.
