I have to widen the net of prospects I really like. But the team employed a strategy I disagreed with, which goes into further doubting the cred up top

I'm just not sold on the current roster being good enough or having enough potential to where we didn't need to tank.
Fox, buddy and bogi are all nice players but is that core good enough to where the draft position isn't a big deal? Hell no.

I think the issue we ran into was that almost top to bottom all the players on the roster have a similar talent level. Was Cooley that much worse than Zbo? Was there a huge difference when Fox and Mason were on the court. Or Jakarr and Skal? It's almost like our best players weren't good enough to win many games and our worst players weren't bad enough to lose many games. The definition of mediocrity.

Are we at the point where we talk ourselves into Trae Young being a good fit?

I love the future of this team and everything, however there have been so many questionable moves strategy wise that has held us back. I’m not in the camp of this group NEEDS a franchise talent (it could be here already or it might not be what this group needs) however saying that get a damn top 3 pick and trade the thing if that’s the case. Once again we sit just outside where the top prospects are going and we will either get scraps or the guy with issues.
The really embarrassing part is we are the only team that hasn’t tanked properly, all for beating some G League guys at the end of the season.

Hahaha no because he's not a guaranteed transcendent talent. I liked what Kayte said after the game, there is too much quantity on the roster to take BPA and not think twice about position. She talked about how the Kings already did that for a few years and this is indeed the tipping point. Young could be really good for the right team, but this is another draft year where these players finding the right team is going to be key for their individual and team success. I'm with Doug, give me one of the Bridges, preferably Miles. The Kings need a real 3/4 and there are some high potential ones in Knox or Miles Bridges.

I do think there might be a way for Doncic to work, but Doncic might not be a real option depending on how the lottery unfolds.

Is it weird I've been talking myself into Mikal Bridges ending up as one of the best players from this draft?

He just seems like such a safe pick. Excellent FT shooter, Excellent 3pt shooter (got better every year), really good defender, advanced stats and TS% off the charts. If he went to a different school and had more opportunity at 19, I think he could have been a top 5 pick 2 years ago. I'm also not one to get down on a player for being a bit older. With Mitchell proving people wrong and Buddy to a certain extent. I think even coming in at 21, 22 theres a lot for these guys to grow.

I'm convinced we need some serious help at small forward. I'd love watching Bridges/Bogdan/Hield mix in at the wings with a sprinkle of Jackson if he can get better over the summer. I just think in today's NBA wings are such a premium. You can find bigs in the later part of the draft as evidence with Gobert, Capela, Jokic, Nurkic, Nance JR, Skal, Kuzma, even Jarrett Allen and John Collins, just in the last few years.

Also I know im a bit higher on WCS than most, and probably buying into the Giles hype a bit too much.

Here's my biggest decider on the battle of the Bridges. The NBA's flavor of the day are 3/4's and Mikal might be more of a 2/3. The Kings have a few of those. Buddy played more SF towards the end of the year and he did a solid job defensively. One of Bogdan or Buddy is going to have to play there for them to both be factored in long term and the end of the year was a testing ground for that.

I've been on board with Buddy/Bogdan as 2/3 since the start of the year. Honestly after watching Buddy this entire season I think he can play the 3. Hes physical, thick, and a great defender. A bit short, but you can tell he gets up in the offensive players grill.

Here's my other issue with Miles. In today's NBA length is ever so important. Its good to be a 3/4 but you need to have Durant, Lebron, George size. Miles doesnt have that.

"Only measured 6'6 ¼ in shoes by USA Basketball. Has the height of a NBA 2-guard but the skill-set of a face-up 4-man. Has measured in the 6'6 department on three different occasions now. 6'9ish wingspan and 8'7 standing reach is also more like that of a SG/SF than a PF. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Miles-Bridges-81785/ ©DraftExpress"

Where I've read Mikal is 6'7 with a 7'2 wingspan. Thats a pretty significant difference. He may not be a typical 4, but if he puts a bit more strength/weight on, I think he can give you spurts at the 4.

So I question if we draft Miles and decide to roll out Fox/Buddy/Bogdan/Miles we will be INCREDIBLY small. I don't see that as a recipe to winning basketball.

Plus I also don't think that Buddy/Bogdan both need to necessarily start to be a huge contributor. Manu was consistently off the bench and was the teams 3rd best player. I could see Bogdan eventually settling into that roll if Fox becomes a better playmaker.

To counter that, Mikal is pretty light in the ass while Miles is extremely solid body-wise. You can't really expect to defend bigs/get rebounds by trotting out WCS/SKAL/MIKAL. Just way too thin.

Well that begs the question, where is Harry Giles as far as being ready to go for next year?

Id say this is more of a front court issue than small forward. If we get lucky, move up and take Doncic we are left is the same position.

Which goes back to my point earlier than I think its easier to find good big men talent late in the draft, and also in free agency. Teams are going to be weary overpaying a big.

Hot Take - Now that we have gone thru our youth movement. Added Fox, Bogdan, Hield, Giles, Skal, 2018 1st round pick, Jackson, Mason to WCS. Lets resign Cousins lol. Only kidding but it seems this would be the best situation we ever put Cousins in, and he sure did love Sacramento. He would absolutely fix the front court as well. Cousins/WCS/Skal/Giles should't have any problem.

It's been well debated on the board before, we'll see what Mile's measurements end up being but if you're a combo F I think it's better to have strength over length. He's longer than Jimmy Butler and some other SF's that have made a career on the defensive end. He probably won't be much under players like Love or Griffin length wise as a SF/PF. I think Miles is more of the "postionless" player that the Kings need. Mikal could spend some time at PF in certain matchups, SG in others. Mikal uses his length well but I trust Miles to stay in front of smaller players better than Mikal at the next level.

I don’t like positionless players, they need to not be tweener IMO
