... The second round pick is protected for the top half of the round, as Phoenix will only get the pick if it falls between 48 and 60. If it lands between 31 and 47, the obligation is extinguished and the Suns get no second rounder.

So Nets get our second rounder. No future second goes to Phoenix.

Guys--I think we just saved ourselves a 2nd round pick from going to the Suns and then sending NJ our 2nd next year.

Through a bizarre coin flip circumstance Sun's don't get a 2nd round pick in the Bledsoe deal now the way I'm reading it.

ETA: didn't realize the draft order drawings don't apply to the second round. Straight record in the league. That said, was weird window where Suns wouldn't get our second if we kept our first. We had to get 17th pick in round one and finish 15, 16th or 17thworst team in second round seeding. And it happened.

Why is the vote so evenly divided? A pick is an asset, you always say yes to more assets.

If Giannis gets injured next season we may have just allowed the Suns to get a draft pick as high as #4 overall next season (the 2019 pick conveyance is protected for 1-3 and 17-30 next year)

Trade it to shed some of the dead weight on this team or get that 2nd guy who is really good.

I'm with you on the pick being an asset, but there's legitimate concern over: Horst making a Vaughn/Thon/Wilson cockup, and potential for the deferred pick coming back to bite us.

To paraphrase the Prez: don't Buck up this pick....

We can’t trade the pick but we can trade the player. That never goes well.

Either use it for a Bulls Butler type trade using Midds or Bleds, or I'm hoping for Mitchell Robinson or Robert Williams at #17

Suns board is also pretty split on the outcome.

Me personally, im pissed. Im sorry, but i dont see the Bucks getting worse in the nest few seasons. Installing a new coach, having Bledsoe there from day one and having an offseason with everyone from the get go. I look at this season for you guys as just extra time for him (Bledsoe) to mesh in. I think that you guys are only going to get better (And think you would have if Parker didnt miss all that time). So i was ecstatic to be getting the #17 in a great draft (With the added ability to package that pick with the Miami pick we own to either move up or to help facilitate a trade).

So next year, you guys are better, and still no pick for us. (Its a supposed weak draft class so....... eh)

2020 top 7 protected......but are you guys going to magically drop from being one of the top 6 teams in the East (Where i have you pegged in 2018) to make that pick any more valuable than it was this year? I really doubt it.

On top of all that you guys screwed us out of a 2nd.

But thats just my opinion......

If PHX threw us a second I would absolutely trade this pick this year to end the obligation

By the way, even if Giannis would go down, I don't see us having a bottom 5 record, like ever. There are way too many teams that want to tank and whoever remains Bledsoe/Middleton/Brogdon/Parker should be enough to finish in the later half of the lottery at worst. Possibly even make the POs.

As if this offseason wasn't important enough already, now we won't even have a lottery pick to fall back on if things go south. They cannot afford to mess this up.

We're a bit confused on the Suns end of this 2nd round pick. For some reason (and I assume there was a reason) the Suns would have gained the Bucks 2nd rounder this year if Milwaukee had the 18 to 30, not 17 to 30 as one would expect.

A one pick gap, before a 2nd rounder would "kick in"? Curious

Edit: for the record. I'm in the "happy it didn't convey" Suns camp

All the focus should be on keeping Giannis. This gives us a chance at a cheap player who could make an impact as we get closer to decision day.

Bigger risk for sure as Giannis could go down early next season and then we might really miss out on a better player/asset. Much prefer to keep it though.
