K-DOT wrote:Blatt's problem in Cleveland stemmed from being given 3 huge egos at once, all of whom were used to being the guy on their teams, then trying to make them buy into the system. Couple that with LeBron wanting his own guy as HC, and the FO wanting to appease LeBron at all costs, and that's a difficult situation for anybody, let alone a rookie coach

I think Blatt deserves another chance in the NBA, but I'm not gonna be clamoring for him to come here. I'd take Stack, Fiz, and JVG before him

Blatt is a legend in Europe and a very very good tactician ( impressive in euro cup this year too), ans it's a guy with systems so with our FP who is euro, a young PG who is an euro too, it's seems a perfect fit to have a "euro" coach (and maybe one of the best). Moreover with no big star with more influence than the coach, it's clearly the opportunity for him to be respected (and for sure KP and Frank know is reputation in Europe) and coached as he wishes.

Blatt is my first choice, stackhouse and fizdale the second. :D

Mark Jackson would be a great coach for us. It's just that I think Perry will go Fiddle to make his own mark.

Blatt went to the finals with Cleveland and took the team to 6 games. Next year he had 30-11 record when he was fired. Let's not act like he underachieved in the NBA. I personally don't care how much coaches get along with players as long as they deliver.

Blatt was initially hired by the Cavs to build something with his vision, install a system and culture, and develop a young team. Acquiring LeBron was counter to that plan, not only because it sped up (or rather, removed the need for) a rebuild, but also because LeBron is a superstar player, player-coach, and player-GM all at once. So the Cavs immediately went from being Blatt's team to LeBron's team, and Blatt never really had the opportunity to build things his way.

Blatt may not ultimately be the right coach for the Knicks, but I would like to see our front office bring someone in with those same goals in mind.

My choices:

The driven lifers who eat, sleep and breathe basketball and love defense:
Stackhouse
JVG

Worth a shot:
Blatt - Euro, great track record, wary of the narrative that LeBron built around him. The press will be on this 24/7 like they were on the "triangle" 24/7. Sad but true.

Unsure of:
Fizdale - could be Woodson 2.0

No f*cking way:
Jackson
Vogel
Woodson

We have no chance:
Wright
Messina
Hammond

I want Fizdale. I like his grit and experience. He comes from a great organization with Riley and Spo and was involved with a super team with major attention with Lebron. I'm sure he also learned a lot from his time in Memphis. He's also young and should have the patience to go through a proper rebuild (unlike a Jeff Van Gundy who will want to win ASAP)

Yeah, I don't get the hatred against Blatt. Blatt was fired because Lebron wanted HIS people everywhere.

I know a lot of you will come at me but I would like Mike Woodson back. He didn't deserve to be fired by Jackson in the first place. Woodson was handcuffed by an old team in his first run and had to appease the egos of Melo, Amare, Chandler, JR Smith, Kidd and Wallace. He still managed to get us to 53 wins, Atlantic title and the 2nd round of the playoffs before the wheels fell off. Woodson with a young roster and patience could develop this team the right way.

Bring Woody back Mills!

The Knicks tuned out Woody in two years. He's a good defensive coordinator sort of coach but his rah rah leadership side doesn't convince players who see through it.

He would fit in perfectly with the roster we currently have. Look at the state of the team when he was fired. We got rid of those negative personalities of JR Smith, Shumpert, Bargnani, Chandler, Melo and Martin. That locker room was cancerous and that wasn't Woodson's fault.

He is straight to the point no non sense that will get this team playing hard.

He had no schemes on either end. Offense was the occasional PnR when they weren’t isolating Melo. As for defense, all they did was switch switch switch. That’s it.

There is no reason to re-hire Woodson...none at all.

They had no choice but to switch since only a few players could actually play defense on that team. They some how still managed to be a top defensive team and Tyson Chandler won DPOY under him.

Ideally I would like to see them bring in 2 of the candidates for Head Coach on to this coaching staff. Blatt's offense with Woodson's defense would be a perfect fit.

Blatt had Cleveland playing top 10 defense.... He doesn't need a defensive specialist. He needs a relationship manager. I think a Blatt/Stack combo would actually be the most intriguing matchup if Stack were willing to do that.
