He could probably be a top 5 pick next year if he plays well in 2018-2019. Apparently he also loves being a college student and his parents aren't exactly pushing him to go pro. I guess we will find out soon.

Top 5 is very bold.

I'll take out the word probably. He could improve his stock though if he's slated to go 7 or 8. That's worth a bit of money, but I don't think he would be staying for the draft stock increase. It would be because he loves Duke.

Sure, but, at the same time, he is a year older (which could affect future contracts), will be less of a focal point than he was this year (although it would be a better team), and returning is an injury risk that I wouldn't suggest anyone take.

Oh I'm not saying I would stay, it just seems like Carter is that guy who would stay in school because he genuinely loves school. Him staying would be a blow for us for sure as I think he's easily a top 8 pick.

yeah it makes no sense for someone like Carter to stay. He already a lock lottery pick.

Use Miles Bridges for example. He stayed improved in some areas and didn't effect his draft stock at all. There will always be another set of freshman that will come in and jump someone like Carter. Also its another risk of injury as well.

glad he's leaving for NBA. Honestly, I wouldn't mind pairing him with KP. I think that could be a lethal frontcourt combo

Do you still want KP chasing 4's around after the ACL?

not really, but at the same time, rebounding would be sh*t with KP at the 5.

Honestly, and I'm in the vast minority on this, but I wanna trade KP. His body type makes him injury prone. Could definitely get a top 3 pick for him

I feel ya. I mean I wouldn't trade KP unless it was like what the rumored Celtics deal was last year where we got the number 1 pick, a future pick and asset. Even then, in this draft I'd be weary of doing that because the only alpha I see is Bagley and I'd prefer pairing him with KP instead of using KP to get him. Which also brings me to my point that Bags is really the only good big man fit with KP outside of maybe JJJ. I personally think JJJ is just too raw and won't be more than a role player at the next level.

Do you want KP banging down low with bigs after his ACL? Argument can be used both ways for either position.

Big news that Carter is leaving. I was getting a little worried. This lottery is 10 deep now imo.

The top 6 seems locked in and then there is carter, trae, mikal and sexton.

Just because KP gets bullied by the likes of Lamarcus does not mean he will get banged around. Anyone who thinks he should still be a 4 has lost their damn mind. Not only will it be post ACL but one of his best strengths is help shot blocking. The spread offense possibilities is endless. Real coaches will tell him stfu play the 5. Its clear as day its a weapon. Stats prove it.

Chasing cutting small ball 4's will have more of an impact on him than banging down lol.

I'd rather that than having the continuous stress on his joints to close out and recover. He never looked fluid there. Always looked uncomfortable closing out on shooters.

Realistic guys
1. Mikal
2. Robert Williams
3. Knox
4. SGA (if we can move him to the 3 he’d ascend to 2 on my list)
Brooklyn Nets
Damian Lillard - Rajon Rondo - Trey Burke
Victor Oladipo - Wes Matthews - Javon Carter
Caris LeVert - Derrick Jones Jr. - Glenn Robinson III
Andre Igoudala - Killian Tillie - Trey Lyles
Joel Embiid - Taj Gibson - Kevon Looney

I’m going off what KP wants, and until he adds mass, he’s going to keep wanting to play the 4. There’s different ways to attack a perimeter shooter. KP doesn’t have to close out, he can let the player attack the rim, and hopefully we’ll have a 5 that can protect the paint.

What you're describing is called running and cutting. If that's a huge concern, it'd be best to trade him. It's definitely less stressful than battling in the post, and the man has said that he's not a center. Not sure that wishing really hard, and arguing back and forth is gonna change that
