He would fit in perfectly with the roster we currently have. Look at the state of the team when he was fired. We got rid of those negative personalities of JR Smith, Shumpert, Bargnani, Chandler, Melo and Martin. That locker room was cancerous and that wasn't Woodson's fault.

He is straight to the point no non sense that will get this team playing hard.

He had no schemes on either end. Offense was the occasional PnR when they weren’t isolating Melo. As for defense, all they did was switch switch switch. That’s it.

There is no reason to re-hire Woodson...none at all.

They had no choice but to switch since only a few players could actually play defense on that team. They some how still managed to be a top defensive team and Tyson Chandler won DPOY under him.

Ideally I would like to see them bring in 2 of the candidates for Head Coach on to this coaching staff. Blatt's offense with Woodson's defense would be a perfect fit.

I disagree. He’s switched everywhere he’s coached - had nothing to do with roster makeup. Tyson winning DPOY has little to do with Woodson’s coaching...cmon now. Are we really going to credit coaches now for DPOY? Should SVG get credit for Dwight? Hollins for Gasol’s DPOY? Nah.

Also,as KF1992 pointed out, the Cavs had a top 10 defense with MAJOR defensive personnel issues.

Blatt had Cleveland playing top 10 defense.... He doesn't need a defensive specialist. He needs a relationship manager. I think a Blatt/Stack combo would actually be the most intriguing matchup if Stack were willing to do that.

I wouldn't mind that either.

Stackhouse going to Charlotte makes too much sense.

Blatt's only issue is that he got fired because star player didn't like him, a guy that's caused problems for every coach he's played under, meanwhile Fizz literally got fired because his relationship got ruined with Marc Gasol of all people.

Brad Turner: Clippers assistant coach Mike Woodson will interview for Knicks head coaching job Wednesday in LA, per source. Woodson coached the Knicks from 2012-14. He also coached Atlanta Hawks. –

If you think switching on defense and lack of offensive cohesion was Woodson's fault you missed the big picture. There were bigger factors at play towards the end.

Woody's down fall was his lack of offensive playcalling versatility and his stubbornness on defense to switch everything when Tyson went down for a full year, Felton lost his head due to off court issues/fitness decline, and JR not being able to (predictably) pick up the slack when all of this happened. Primed Melo/Joe Johnson bailed Woody out for a while but once he didn't have prime personnel he was exposed.

Well, he’s always been a switch guy and has always been an iso guy...so...even though you areright that factors beyond his control might have impacted his record, it did not impact his style. He never adjusted no matter who was on the court.

Ugh... out of all the re-treads he would be the best option and of course they'd rather contact Jax and Woody :banghead:

Seems common with the Knicks to have big names floated out in the beginning but then they "settle" on the guy who they wanted from the jump anyways.

With the way the Knicks are structured the coach has 3 guys above him in the hierarchy. The likelihood of a JVG or anyone else of that stature agreeing to that is unlikely.

I'd hate to think that in a situation where the Knicks hired Phil Jackson, then jettisoned him (rightly, ultimately) and then turned over the front office, with a plan to rebuild, that the best coaching choice they could come up with to lead this whole effort for the next 3-5 years is Mike Woodson.

I mean, really?

I wonder how many unknown candidates are being interviewed, it could be someone not on our radar like when Hornacek was hired.

At the end of the day he needs casual fans to call in to his station and listen to his radio show. Those fans aren't here for conversations about Stackhouse and Fizdale.

Majority of the fans here want Stackhouse...which is why we won't get Stackhouse.
