the 2018-9 roster could be this:
PG Burke or Ntilikina - Mudiay
SG Hardaway - Ntilikina - Dotson - Baker
SF 2018 1st draft pick - Williams - Doston - 2018 2nd draft pick?
PF Porzingis - Thomas - Hicks - 2018 2nd draft pick?
C KOQ - Noah - Kornet

goodbye - Kanter + Lee + Beasley

basically keep Noah as stretching him does no good for the cap and need a vet mentor for the weak rebounders
keep KOQ because he plays D better than Kanter and is cheaper
tanking for a high draft pick after this year is dumb because the league will change the lotto rules so its too late to implement "the process". not saying making they make a big push to grab for the last playoff spot, but intentionally setting up for 25 win season will not benefit anything.

IMO

Some intriguing names

If we don't spend money on Kanter or OQuinn, It would be interesting if we threw some at some of these guys.

Only guy who can probably had cheaply is Kyle Anderson, who I'd be cool with, 6'9 Point forward with IQ

Obviously a bunch of those names would look real nice wearing a Knicks jersey especially a guy like Capela playing next to KP but the right play for the Knicks would be to not spend any money this off season and save it all for after the 2019 season when J.Noah and C.Lee come off the books and after we just added two lottery pick in 2018 and 2019 along with whatever 2nd round picks we have and then use our cap space on two stud players to bring in to play with KP, Frank, Burke our two lottery picks and whatever other young players we keep like Dotson, Kornet, Hicks and others.

I get wanting most players to be young and up our chances at developing more legit players... but I think almost all of the really good young teams that actually make the jump do it b/c they have the right veterans in the locker room to teach these young guys the right way. I think Lee does that well, so I'm not opposed to keeping him at all.

Finding veterans that help young players in the locker room is easy. They can be had for cheap. You don't need a veteran making 12 million dollars just to be a voice in the locker room.

Trade Courtney Lee and a 2nd rd. pick to San Antonio for Danny Green (local guy from Long Island, great shooter, contract is 1 year shorter than C-Lee's

Buyout Noah; Kanter opts out & is not retained. Neither is Beasley.

Pray that we can win the lottery to draft Doncic

Re-sign KOQ, sign Kyle Anderson (or Jerami Grant) and Kevon Looney

PG Ntilikina - Burke - Mudiay
SG Dotson - Hardaway - Baker
SF Doncic - Green - Williams
PF Anderson - Thomas - Porzingis*
C O'Quinn - Looney - Kornet

In what way was it a good signing? Similar to Jared Jeffries...the Knicks sign these secondary and tertiary guys which do only ONE thing:

1. They prevent the Knicks from having a top 1-3 pick and settle 7-10 slot.

In 2008, the Knicks do just well enough to miss Russell Westbrook. They draft Dalino Gallinari.

In 2009, the Knicks do just well enough to miss Stephon Curry. They draft Jordan Hill.

Get my point?

Y'know those old dudes with the hand held metal detector combing the beach looking for gold or something valuable? That's the Knicks. When in reality, the guy should take a good look at where his efforts would best suit him...not Coney Island.

Curry / Felton / Davis
Russ / JR Smith / J.Lin
Butler / Chandler / Fields
Anthony / Diaw / Jeffries
Amare / Mozgov / Martin

Finally someone gets it. Can't understand for the life of me why so many people are trying to sign bench players who are more expensive per production than max cats.

Knicks will be mediocre for the foreseeable future unless they blow this up now and start from scratch.

Actually...just 2 people who don't get it. Dude avgs double double numbers...plays some D. Gets blocks. Great passer. 4.5mil. That's an excellent deal for the production.

As for starting from scratch. We are!. That happened with the Melo trade.

If Kawhi pulls a Melo, PG or Butler and wants out and only the Knicks, what is the least we should trade away to obtain him?

Here's my plan, first off " No Long Contracts!" Unless you find a way to get a star do not sign any huge crippling deals like THJ. Now i'm not saying he didn't show that he earned his money, but if we saved that money we would have been able to get a star this year. Trade Tim for either Faried or W.Chandler. Ever sense Milsap came into play Faried has been thrown to the dumpsters.

Draft Mikal Bridges

Resign KO.

Other than the draft - no big splash, save the money for next year. I like what we picked up with Williams, Kornet looks like K.P2.0, and Dotson needs a bigger role.

Let Kanter go!

Sign Stackhouse or Fiz

Frank/Burke
Lee/Dotson
Bridges/Williams
Faried/Thomas/Kornet
KP/KO

Return to New York Knicks
