I honestly didn’t think he was as fluid as he is with that frame. He puts the ball on the floor better than I initially thought as well. Imagine a guy that big with a face up, post and drive game. It’s gonna be unbelievabley hard keep a guy like that in front of you as a defender.

Add this to the fact that he’s super intelligent. Could crack top 3 before it’s all said and done.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if your use of this tag is offensive or not. I'm debating if I should report you or not so your future is in my hands. :)

Seriously though, I told you and @spud yesterday that #LaBamba has shot way up my list. Congrats to you both for getting on the #kgWagon.

But your initial hate for him diminishes your growing love... lol.

Whaa? I don't hate @jamallll, I jus' .... ohhhhh, you meant.

I think I disliked him because I hadn't watched him play. After I watched a few games (not just highlights), it's clear the impression I had of him was wrong. I thought a guy like Capela was his ceiling but now I think that he can be more.

ETA: I also think folks who still don't like him haven't actually watched much of him.

ETA#2: I should add that I think him working with Garnett is a plus from a competitiveness standpoint. For better or worse, Garnett seemingly was a guy that didn't tolerate sawft guys. Lookin at you Rick Rickert (who? eggsactly).

I feel silly.

I simply think his arms are 'jacked' now and he might be a new age Mutombo.

(Though even I have a hard time investing a top 4 selection on him.)

Bamba is off my board. Dude looks about 8 years away from his NewOrleans Noel-esque ceiling.

We don't plan on being perennial lotto participants so we should be looking for an alpha with this pick. That means a guy that can potentially (emphasis on potentially) dominate on both ends, primarily offensively. Bamba is years away from that and quite frankly doesn't even show the building blocks to develop a serious offensive game.

Honestly, there's not much evidence he's not simply a slightly better version of Biyombo.

Oh no you didn’t....first comparing him to nerlens then biyombo?

Bleacher Report

From that article:

Texas C Mohamed Bamba

An article from Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer called Texas center Mohamed Bamba the "biggest boom-or-bust prospect" of the 2018 NBA draft. That's not due to his defense, which was fantastic in his one year in Austin. Thanks to a 7'9" wingspan, Bamba became a dominant shot blocker, swatting 3.7 blocks per game in addition to corralling 10.5 boards per night.

The issue is primarily on the other end of the court. O'Connor noted the following when talking about Bamba's offensive skill set:

"The rest of his offense needs even more work. Bamba's lack of strength severely limits him on the blocks. He struggles to wall off defenders, so he gets pushed far from the rim, and he lacks advanced post moves. Post-ups are becoming a rarity in the NBA, sure, but the quality of Bamba's interior touches reveals a player who gets stripped far too frequently and lacks recognition skills to fire passes when he’s under pressure."

Bamba doesn't have a consistent long-range jumper in his skill set yet either, as he made just 27.5 percent of his three-pointers last year.

The issue is that Bamba will be playing in an NBA era where the big man isn't as valued. Many teams go small ball these days, which has put some talented centers such as Hassan Whiteside of the Miami Heat and Jonas Valanciunas of the Toronto Raptors on the bench for large portions of games.

Still, players with 7'9" wingspans and massive upside don't appear out of the sky every season, so a team should be taking a chance on him early. His upside is a double-double and shot-blocking machine for many years as the cornerstone of a team's franchise. The question is whether he can develop his outside shot, which will make him a force to be reckoned with on the next level.

I gotta be honest, seeing how effective Tatum has been this year does make me strongly consider taking M porter Jr at whatever pick we get.

MPJ has been comped as a bigger, more offensively talented Tatum. Adding him to Taurean and Collins would be a fun mismatch of frontcourt players.

Just so long as he clears out medically.

He's definitely intriguing. The problem for me in this draft is almost every player breaks at least one of my rules for a top 3 pick
- don't take a center
- don't take anyone that can't shoot
- don't take hyped euro players
- don't take players named Marvin
- don't take anyone from Duke

I think Porter is a guy who passes these tests.

Cincinnati junior Jacob Evans to remain in 2018 NBA draft

Cincinnati junior Jacob Evans has decided to remain in the 2018 NBA draft and forgo his collegiate eligibility, Evans told Yahoo Sports.

Evans will participate in the draft combine in Chicago from May 16-20. He declared for the draft last month and went through a process of training and receiving feedback from NBA teams, which believe he is a top-25 selection.

A 6-foot-6 guard, Evans has intrigued NBA executives with his potential as a two-way player. He averaged 13 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.3 steals and nearly a block per game last season for the Bearcats. In a league increasingly seeking strong wing defenders and shooters, Evans could rise with a strong pre-draft process.
