Brad Rowland wrote:3. Atlanta Hawks – Marvin Bagley III (C/PF, Duke)
This isn’t a no-brainer, especially given potential concerns with a future pairing alongside John Collins. Bagley may be the best prospect available, though, and there are early indications that the Hawks value his potential. If everything went perfectly, the Hawks would suddenly be terrifying in the frontcourt.
19. Atlanta Hawks (via Minnesota) – Dzanan Musa (SF, Bosnia-Herzegovenia)
Musa is the second-best international prospect in this class and his scoring potential would be appealing for the Hawks. There are other potential fits in this range and it feels safe to project Musa somewhere between 15 and 25.
30. Atlanta Hawks (via Houston) – Shake Milton (SG/PG, SMU)
Milton would represent a heist for the Hawks with the final pick in the first round. He has legitimate point guard skills at 6’6 with a wingspan nearing 7’0 and Milton can convert shots while defending (and switching) on the other end. He’s a perfect role player model and the Hawks could integrate him well with their current talent and a new head coach.

3. Atlanta Hawks.
Luka Doncic, G, Real Madrid, 6-8 220
They're just starting a rebuild and he's a great player to begin. Their point guard Dennis Schroder indicated this week he isn't interested in a rebuilding. Doncic could be an elite NBA player, but needs to be the main ball handler to do so. The Hawks can put him there.

So there isn't a consensus in these Mocks as to who the Hawks should draft.

That is indeed the key takeaway.
The consensus is...there is no consensus.
Which could be to our advantage. I've read several times that we had interest in Trae had we fallen further. I suspect that may be the draft target for us. Move down to 5 or 6 and grab him there while amassing more assets along the way.

I think Young is the highest risk in the top 7. Is he the highest talent after #2? That's a gutsy call if TS makes it. A trade down to a better player would be a coup, but that's the longest odds.
I think Bagley will be a Hawk soon

Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
^Yeah, I don't think TS can actually draft Trae at #3.
That's the kind of decision that can get a GM fired immediately if it doesn't work out.
But at #6...well.

I don’t usually toot my own horn (liar) but I’d like to say that I called Luka to Sac for about a year now. The NBA wants that early 2000’s peja/hedo thing going again.
Ayton and Doncic will be gone.
If we stay at 3...it will be Bagley..if we move down, it’s Bamba, Porter jr., or Trae...don’t rule out my boy Mikal either...if Schlenk views him in the mold of a Klay Thompson. A feisty wing that gets all up in your grill and defends the opposing team’s best player nightly.

I dunno anymore...Jamal is starting to look really attractive right now ...compared to that Marino lover who took his ball and went home. Smh. The thing is though, his weak move didn’t effect the Hawks luck, we moved up a spot! Take that!
Ps Please nobody run with that Jamal attractive thing...I don’t know much about him other than he’s a white/black guy named Jamal/Brad...he could even be partially from Miami.....
Dunnnnn dunnn dunnn duuuuuuu (dragnet)-Joe Friday

I'm with Brad for the first two picks; Bagley and Musa. Shake is intriguing but I'm taking someone a couple years younger. G Trent or B McCoy C for me. I love Brandon McCoy at 30 or 34. He's a real C that can score, board and play D at the end of the first. Maybe not a starter, but years of solid C rotation play. Trent is strange but he can shoot and is tenacious.

Kings To Consider Bigs At No. 2 In Addition To Luka Doncic
Kings have a real hole there in the frontcourt. I don't think that they're in love with Willie Cauley-Stein by any means. They started Zach Randolph at the four all year long. "What do they do there? Do they go with Marvin Bagley who is going to be a compelling prospect for them? Or do they go with Luka Doncic?

.
Here is hoping that people start to overhype Bagley. As Hawks fans we need to go on other boards and start overhyping the guy and call him the next 30/15 MVP candidate! Hopefully a month will be enough time to overhype Bagley so that he makes it in the top two and Doncic falls to the Hawks

Same thing happen to Exum just a few years ago

I watched all of his interviews. He reminds me of a young Michael Jordan personality wise. Just a hard worker. Not a man of many words outside of his music of course. Very smart. Just wants to be great. That's his everything.
Coach K on Marvin.

Just sayin'
His personality is shy. But he is an excellent listener. He really sees everything due to his preparation. That's an underrated trait that's usually a personal life trait.

Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
I've avoided these types of videos on any player until I knew where we were picking. Now I can get ready for the draft.
The dunking and stuff is cool, but I like his ability to handle the ball and drive, looks impressive for a guy his size. Even has a lil Euro step.
