Your ability to succeed in the NBA and become a star is almost completely defined only by your skills and work ethic, both of which Doncic has plenty.

Of course, having amazing athleticism certainly helps or makes it easier to achieve star potential. But it certainly isn't nearly as important as people make it out to be. Players who are "average" or "not incredible" athletically but are great players in the league include guys like Klay, Harden ,Kevin Love, Al Horford etc. There's a lot of these guys. If you go above these guys you start to see the 'wow' athletes like Hayward and then even above that it's like Westbrook and LeBron level guys.

Now if you've got "poor" athletic traits (relatively speaking, like speed and jumping ability) ala Nash and Steph who could/can barely dunk, your odds of succeeding as a star I think begin to diminish at this point. See:Kendall Marshall. But I think Luka, from what I can see in highlight videos at least, is closer to Klay/Harden levels of athleticism (not wow level, but sufficient).

A lot of players also improve their athleticism visibly after training in the NBA. But in the end I think if a player like Doncic struggles with NBA athleticism, then that would be more a problem with his skills. Stuff like positioning on defense and the timing of every dribble move, or pump fake you make having to be better, etc.

What do Suns fans think of this trade:

Warren + #16 + Bucks and Heat 1sts Owed for #4 + Parsons???

Suns can go Doncic at #1 and a big at #4 or Ayton at #1 and Young at #4.

I'm all in on Doncic but I feel like the Suns are going to pick Ayton. I just hope we don't make the wrong move in picking for need over BPA...we all know how that worked out for Greg Oden and Sam Bowie.

3. Bamba
4. Young
5. Bagley
6. Jackson
7. Porter

Anyone else see the news that Bamba's wingspan measured 7-10 this morning?

Have a bad feeling that the Suns would be better off with the Second pick and getting Doncic over Ayton, it wouldn't surprise me if the entire Suns scouting crew and Sarver thought Doncic should be their pick and McDonough decides to go with Ayton just to get what he feels is the safest pick, watch him not pan out.

Sounds like Ayton is a Phoenix Sun, He's from Phoenix and played at University of Arizona, makes a lot of sense to take him and lock him up as long as he don't become a bust.

Did you see the difference in McD’s reaction between the 3rd pick the 2nd pick being announced? He even did a Holy Cross. They know who they’re taking but there’s no harm in working the process.

I believe Gambo is right in that they’ve known who the pick would be if they got #1 but I don’t trust him that it’s Ayton. If he takes b2b L’s on Rosen/Doncic then idk how he can be heard on the radio again. I think he was being emotional and stupid last night.

Think they'll take Ayton at 1 and then Sac takes Doncic at 2 and then they trade?

It's interesting that lilfishi bumped the "McD big board" thread a few days ago to ask if people thought hiring Igor had anything to do with McD's big board and 67% of the people thought Doncic was probably atop of it.

Then it seems like a few days later, or right after we get the #1 pick, it seems most everyone thinks Ayton is atop the big board, I guess because of Gambo. I didn't think hiring Igor had an impact on his big board or that he'd place Doncic higher than that just because of it, and had figured Ayton was probably at the top before that, but most apparently didn't but now post draft/Gambo comments, people seem to have changed their mind.

I was kind of surprised McD was THAT relieved after the top pick was announced (after already knowing we were at least top two).

I've always kind of thought it was Ayton but I really have no clue.

I thought Gambo’s ridiculous assertions about Doncic’s character might be due to the Suns being set on Ayton and making the local perception pro-Ayton. Not necessarily the Suns’ idea but just Gambo being a dramatic and stupid.

Most of the local polls favor Ayton by a landslide anyway.

I've always thought that it was Ayton. He makes too much sense but I don't really know which way they are leaning now that we ahve the #1 pick. The only scenario where Igor's (probable) Doncic leanings would come into play is if McD and the rest of the front office thought they were close enough talent-wise and that's when Igor could be the tiebreaker towards Doncic.

We should convince Kerrsed that Doncic is the way to go, than make him hack all those polls in his favor.

I can create a script in Firefox to keep voting (What we used to rig polls like Time's World's Most Influential Person, Sending Bieber to North Korea for a Concert, Having Taylor Swift perform at Horace Mann's School for the Deaf, Naming the Natural Environment Research Council's new ship Boaty McBoatface), and the Dub the Dew Debacle).

Might be a bit more tougher now that companies using polls have smartened up and only allow 1 vote per IP address, but i might be able to include a Proxy Randomizer into the script. We will see.

I think Doncic is tanking his value so we can trade up when teams pass on his with his not knowing if he will come over this year. Just a theory

Figured this would be a fun bump now that we have 60+ games to judge the rooks
