Also take into consideration Melo and JR never had any interest giving effort on defense.

so as a coach who doesn't have the balls to actually coach, especially since melo and especially smith were never in a position to call the shots.

so if woodson can't get his guys to care on defense as a coach, what makes you think he can do as an assistant coach?

oh but fizdale likes him and fizdale is the flavor of the month so woodson doesn't suck, his defense is good, his switch defense was never a joke, blah blah blah etc.

Im not in favor of bringing Woodson back, but it starts with the players/culture. Past regimes have basically encouraged immaturity without consequence.

a coach puts their players in the best position to succeed. woodson never did that, he just stuck with what worked once.
LOL Y U MAD THO?

Switching only works when you have players that can guard multiple positions. If you don't have that, you just end up in mismatches, and get beat continuously, similar to what happened to us all the time.
That and JR and Felton refused to fight through bssic picks

His biggest sin was abandoning small ball against Indy

As long as you have the personell.

We should work on that.

he got criticized because he never adjusted his switch defense even though chandler or whatever center always ended up defending the opposing team's pg.

the opposing teams purposely forced the mismatch and woodson never made any adjustments to not have that happen.

To be honest, our PG even couldn't guard PGs so may as well have Tyson on him. :D

Not as much. Frank gets over picks and so did Burke at the end of the season. Lance gets over screens. Jeff didn't demand switching like Mr. Potato Head did.

His head coaching gig in the nba is over. Assistant coach sure but no team is desperate enough to hire that clown.
He had the most fakest cringe reactions when he was coaching here. Couldnt stand woody. Jason kidd was our coach not him. Got exposed in the playoffs and the next season too. From first to lottery in just 1 year. Fluke.

Why?! Say NO! I don't want to see ISO Porzingis. At least with Jeff Van Gundy, we had 15+ years to even think about getting back together.

There's othing wrong with switching on defense.

You just need to make sure you have smart defenders, active defenders, aware defenders, and defenders who know where to be at all times, especially those off the ball.

The problem is that, when you have guys like Jr Smith, Melo, Felton, and amare, youre setting yourself up for failure because they all suck at defense, are slow at helping, and are stupid at the game of basketball, and were all geerally lowiq players, except for Felton on the offensive side tho

It helps to have size, but it still works if you have smart, capable, willing defenders who are aware of what's going on throughout every defensive possession. He didn't have that here in NY except for chandler.

That said, still don't want. KP has low defensive IQ. Can't have that as the C/PF.

i don't disagree at all.
him getting an HC job somewhere (NBA or elsewhere) is the safest way to keep him away from us.
