Do NOT do that dumbsh#t Knick thing of being passive then rebuilding every 2-3 seasons.

Who is that guy, is the question. I’m not convinced, based on what I’ve been reading, that there’s a game-changer out there aside from Dahlin. After Dahlin there are a couple very good forwards with boom potential then like seven or eight guys with similar value. So it’s either getting into the top three or sticking it out at nine. Just my opinion. I’m no draft expert.

From everything I've read, Rangers are in the worst spot bc there are 8 great talents and after that, the drop off is significant. Let's hope Rangers trade up w their draft capital.

Gawd I am hoping they use their 3 first rounders to move up and draft a key cog. Otherwise next season is going to be a long one.

So can we say the Rangers won the deals with Boston?

The Rangers already won the trade with Boston, they are also going to win the trade with Tampa Bay because the Lightning are going to destroy Washington en route to the Stanley Cup and next season, that second rounder becomes another first rounder.

Here's the thing, to be a complete victory we gotta see how good Gorton is at drafting. As far as talent he received in trades, it's been "meh." ALL of the forwards he received are 40 pt players trying to convince the Rangers they are 80 pt players worth $$$$$. I'm sorry to say, NONE of those guys are 80 pt players.

However the Rangers have a million picks in the draft. Can they find ONE go-to guy?

The difference being the Rangers have a great shot moving up to #5 if they play their cards right.

Sounds like BU's David Quinn will be the next head coach

I don't have much of a like/dislike...to me, this off-season will be de-fined by how well the Rangers draft and handle free agency.

Now that the Tampa Bay Rangers lost to Washington, we lost our #1 draft choice and have to settle on a #2.

I feel good for Ovechkin, though. I think aside from Henrik, no one wants and needs the Cup more than him.

If they win the Stanley Cup NEXT year

So we could still get a first round pick from Tampa Bay next year...but it would be the last pick in the first round

The Hockey Guy is one of my go-to insights into coaching...Seems to him, David Quinn should reach the young guys and get a lot of production from them.

Random thoughts...

1. Well if Sweden's run in the Nationals is any indication, Zibanejad and Lias Andersson have some chemistry which should hopefully translate to a growth spurt in play/production next season. To quote Herr Starr in AMC's the Preacher, "Like a ten inch dick, I gotta see it to believe it." Neither guy is a top line center. Zibanejad gets his arse handed to him in the crease (see injury history). Lias Andersson was doggin' it multiple times against the Isles (and he didn't even play till the second period). All for you, Henrik...

2. Basically the Rangers have 3 first rounders, 2 second rounders, 3 third rounders...beyond the top 5 prospects, none of these guys look like top line guys. Rangers need defense, defense, defense, and top forward, top center. Good luck Gorton.

3. So far the Rangers top forward and defense prospects are undersized. Check out the Stanley Cup Finals, no short guys. Big, FAST, and systematic.

4. No one knows who or what Gorton is going to build including the Front Office. Excited and scared at the same time.

5. Heard NOTHING on the Rangers front when it comes to free agency.

Who knows, the Rangers might surprise us all. I don't think this is a rebuild but a face-lift. Heck, it wouldn't shock me if Nash is back with the Rangers.

I heard the Rangers may sign both Kovalchuk and JVR, but I don't know how either would fit in with the rebuild. Like you said, it could be more of a retooling/facelift than a rebuild.

Ovechkin was the guy who used to mock playing in MSG all the time. He called NYC "a zoo, it smells a little..." until the Rangers got better and started beating Washington regularly.

I hope that clown NEVER wins a Stanley Cup.

Yes! Go Golden Knights! IF You have the GM, you can go far in the NHL.

Speaking of GMs, looks like the Rangers are not going to move up and settle for Evan Bouchard who is basically Pionk BUT much, much taller and more physical.

Now there is Serron Noel who is 6'5" power forward but I dunno if Gorton has the sac to try and trade back up to get him.

I just gotta wonder how the hell the Rangers are going to find their go-to forward. The problem of the Lundqvist era is the fact they never had a go-to guy. The personality and blue collar mentality was there but in the end, you need talent to put you over the top.

So without moving up, Gorton thinks he's going to luck into it.

That's a Knick dumb mentality, a franchise who hasn't won a thing in over 4 decades.

HOLY Crap! Erik Karlsson's wife files some kind of restraining order against his teammate's fiancee'. Seems like this had been brewing for a while. Karlsson has had conflict with ownership.

Um, Gorton GET IN ON THIS.

Yeah that was one of the stranger stories that I've read in a while, certainly a reason to get out of Ottawa.

Draft is ten days away, you would hope that Quinn pushes for Thachuck if he's high on him.

Yeah, the Rangers NEED an All-Star defenseman and to draft an elite scorer or vice versa. The market doesn't have any elite scorers but they DO have some defenseman who can provide leadership, defense, and scoring.
