Floor to me is what the player will be if he improves marginally or not at all.

Ceiling to me is what the player will be if all of his obvious tools are maxed out.

Breaking the ceiling is if Giannis gets a jump shot.

Also, as the great Beastie Boys once said, "one man's ceiling, is another mans flooOOOoOoOrrr".

Would you guys rather have him or Thon right now?

They're both marginal. I'd guess Thon is far more likely to better reach his potential, but he's already in his mid-20s and his role looks to be spazzy chase-down block specialist with streaky 3-point range. Kostas coasted at Nicolet, put up pedestrian numbers at Dayton, is reputed to have motivation issues and does not approach the athleticism of Giannis. Worth a shot in the bottom half of the 2nd, but I think he's more likely to head off to Europe permanently if he has to spend more than a year in the G-League.

Famous last words: I'd take Thon.

Kostas, better hands and the body control to finish as a roller

The Sacramento guard said he has played alongside Vanderbilt since he was in fourth grade. They also were on the same AAU team for EYBL (via The Ringer):

“For him, once he gets healthy … he’s the best rebounder I’ve ever seen … He can really handle the ball, he can play point guard if you really need him to. But he can go get the rebound and push the ball down the floor with anybody.”

Vanderbilt has previously said that he likes the idea of playing position-less basketball, which aligns with what Fox said about him.

But the comment about his rebounding is what really jumps off the page. He averaged 15.5 rebounds per game during his senior year of high school. The big man had a game at the Bluegrass Showcase with 33 points, 23 rebounds and 9 assists.

His instincts, quickness to the ball, and hands are off the charts

Not gonna talk myself into him because by the time the draft roles around I'm sure he'll be long gone.

Is there any chance the Bucks FO would buy a 2nd round pick?

Edit* Maybe one of the 76ers 4?

100% chance. There is no way this doesn't happen.

I think it's possible. They have been doing a lot of scouting and workouts with second round prospects (could just be due diligence) but I think there's a strong possibility they try to buy in.

So long as his brother doesn't object, I'm 100% in favor of bringing in Kostas with a 2nd pick somehow. As raw as he is, I like the idea of him being able to workout with Giannis.

I was hoping we did, there are a lot of guys I wouldn't feel comfortable taking at 17, but wouldn't mind using a 2nd round flier on them.

It's just not worth the risk. He's a fringe NBA prospect as is, just like Thanasis was. If you draft him he's pretty much taking up a guaranteed roster spot for the next 3 years. Cuz do you really wanna be the guy who cuts Giannis' brother 16 months before he decides on his contract extension?

So don't cut him. It's not like every team in the league doesn't have towel waivers.

You don't think that Giannis wouldn't eventually lobby for him to get PT? Surprised that you guys are just looking past all the potential pitfalls of this situation. If Kostas were in any way a 1st round talent, you'd at least have to consider it. But he's not, so just draft a guy who's also tall and athletic in Mitchell Robinson, who's also just a better basketball prospect, and who doesn't carry the same emotional investment from your star player.

Kostas isn’t a good prospect. That’s the only relevant thing here.
