The only two? What about Bender, Chriss, and then there is the draft pick and free agents. This team could be HUGELY improved.

Obviously there will be a huge talent infusion from the draft and F/A that goes without saying. Of guys currently on the roster I think the two I mentioned will make the biggest impact of whether we are good or bad again because either can be above average starters. Bender and Chriss have yet to even play like rotation players yet. Anyone on the roster could make a huge jump but that doesn’t make them a wildcard to do so.

Knight is coming off a torn ACL and hasn’t started playing 5v5 yet. His strength was footspeed and stopping on a dime. I can’t think of a player besides Adrian Peterson that was at 100% agility only a year after the injury.

I also think a full year of Williams - or the player that’s takes his salary plus if they can use at least half of the TroyTysonJared 26m for a player with better WAR, using a baseball stat - no reason to think the team cannot improve by 15 to 18 games

Nine teams have worse vegas odds than us of winning it all next year.

Obviously some potential big time free agent signings factored in for at least a couple of teams.

Miami one seems odd.

This isn't a rumor or anything but a piece by a Heat writer with trade ideas. If this actually became an option, would you make this deal? I would need to see how Free Agency played out. I'd rather be paying someone like Kemba but this scenario would mean it'd be cheap to get him. Could be a sign of how Heat fans value him.

2. Trade Goran Dragic back to the Phoenix Suns for a second-round pick. In June's NBA Draft, the Suns already have the first-overall selection and the 16th selection, which they received from the Heat in the 2015 deal that sent Goran Dragic to Miami. Phoenix also owns the first pick of the second round (No. 31) and the 59th pick. The Suns will likely take Dragic's international team teammate and Euroleague MVP Luka Doncic with the first selection, making Dragic an excellent fit to mentor the 18-year-old phenom as he acclimates himself to the NBA.

For the Heat, getting back what amounts to a late first-round pick would lessen the blow of losing this year's pick to the Suns for Dragic. He no longer makes sense for the Heat. He's an aging point guard on a team that has no avenue to compete without a massive overhaul of its roster. Two more years of leading the Heat to middle-of-the-pack seasons does no one any good. The time for change is now.

Acquiring a young player who could be a rotation player for the Heat when the team is ready to compete seriously makes sense for Miami. Getting Dragic back to mentor Doncic and still being owed another future first-round pick from the Heat in the deal is highway robbery for the Suns. It's a win-win.

A 2nd for Dragic is a done deal for me, regardless of the Ayton/Doncic debate. He instantly solves the PG problem.

I am not one of those big time Dragic fans, but if we could get him for a second round pick, he would be one of the two vet free agents the Suns were seeking this summer. He brings a settling veteran presence and solves the pg problem. He knows the coach and plays well within his system. We still draft Ayton though. If we could trade a second for Dragic, draft Ayton, and trade up to draft Doncic, we would have a perfect summer. Actually, a sign and trade of Elfrid and a future second rounder for Dragic might make sense for both teams. This article does reveal the value of that #31 pick.

I really don't understand why Suns fans like Dragic so much. He's a super mediocre player who is the face of the darkest period in the Suns franchise history and he quit on the Suns TWICE in the past. Who can guarantee that he won't quit again when things stop going his way? Oh, and he's old and overpaid. What a great addition he would be.

If someone suggested to trade for/sign IT, Morris twins, Bledsoe or Gortat people would be fuming, but Dragic for some reason is fine, even though he's done more damage to this franchise than any of those guys. SMFH.

My biggest issue with Dragic would be his salary.

I understand he acted childish but I believe there's a lot more that happend that fans aren't aware of.
McD also acted like a child claiming we got the best player in that deadline in Knight.
Dragic was asked to change his role with Bledsoe (taking the ball out of his hands a lot of the time) to playing with another ballhog in Thomas.

People are warm to the idea of his return because he grew up a Sun. He actually was not a big part of the Suns dark times. We almost made the playoffs when he returned and still had a decent year the next year when things fell apart.
Not to mention he played a huge role in the Suns sweep over the Spurs in '10.

If people don't want him, it should be because they don't believe he has it anymore or because his salary is too much. Not because of what happend a few years ago.

I like Dragic, I think it's a solid point guard. But my biggest issue with him is people are forgetting that he and his prissy little brother were at the center of the controversy in thosedarkest days.

I wouldn’t mind him on the team. His style of play and the players we have around him would give him another 4 years of solid play. Just don’t give up 2021 unprotected Miami pick.

1. What we already know about Dragic's departure is plenty enough to understand that he values spotlight and money more than he cares about winning games.
2. When he returned to the Suns in 2012, we were the worst team in the West that season.
3. Yes, we had decent season in 2014-15 before things fell apart, but Dragic was THE reason why things fell apart. We were 26-18 (48-win pace) when he quit on the team and decided that he would rather have his touches and money than make the play-offs.
4. He played a marginal role in the Spurs sweep. He had a one great quarter and done nothing the rest of the series.

Wtf happened to this board? Dragic is a good player. Some people just want a good player on the team regardless of the past. We don’t have a PG and we need one. It appears that Ayton is the choice thus we have to fill the PG position. Some guys are ball dominant or cost a ton or don’t fit, Goran would fit In My Very Humble Opinion of course, don’t want to offend anyone for having one.

Nothing more nothing less. Adding extra narrative is irrelevant and uncessary. If you don’t think he’d fit, just say he won’t fit.

My point guard targets ranked based on how much I think they could cost:
Rozier
Dragic
Kemba

Is that just monetary or including your value on other assets?

I can’t imagine Riley going for that. 2nd rd pick....Miami should be able to get at least a late 1st for him from some team.

Raptors fans have been begging for Vince Carter to return to Toronto for many years now. Allen Iverson also had a ton of fans wishing him to return to the 76ers back when he was getting bounced around between Denver, Detroit and Memphis.

Plenty more examples out there.
