yes but why are you ignoring the build up that led to the suspension?
I agree there were some missed calls re DGreen earlier in that playoffs; and that he had established a rep for bad behavior. That was on him. This was largely what was used to justify the decision, and to support the conclusion of "intentional" contact at the time, and I think the majority of people would agree with you that it was fair The karma came back to bite him.
I just hate whenever the 2016 Championship is discussed having an asterisk in my mind. Were the Cavs the real champions that year. Could they have really defeated the historically great Warriors that year, even with a hurt Curry, without the help of the League's intervention? Was that extreme action of benching the best player for one team for an entire game really justified by the incident that occurred?
To me whenever LeBron tries to say the Cavs could beat the Warriors except for Durant being there, I think, are we forgetting how good the Warriors were that year -- the historic regular season year. Without Durant. I think twenty years from now when people look back on this era of NBA, that call by League will be seen as a mistake. And one that ended up seriously hurting the League because it led to Durant going to Warriors
The Cavs were the real champions. They were down 3-1 and won 3 straight games to win it out. The game Green was suspended for is irrelevant. He was back in the series for games 6 and 7. They got beat by double digits in game 6 and in Game 7 they lost at home.
You're forgetting that the injuries to Bogut (Game 5 - knee impaction) and Iggy (Game 6 - stiff back) dramatically impacted GSW's defense.
Bogut only averaged 12+ minutes for GSW in that series, but his minutes were important enough to warrant him starting every game. Iggy's impact (guarding LBJ) speaks for itself. For the last two games of the series, GSW lost their best interior defender and starting center, and their best LBJ defender was severely hampered.
I've come to believe that CLE should've won 2015 if they were completely healthy and GSW should've won 2016 if completely healthy and had no suspensions. Since they both got one, it evens out.
