Here a write-up about your boy, seems a new characteristic he has is leadership, something this team can use. Looks more like a SG to me, but I'd say he got himself on the list.

Next phase of draft workouts, seems they are overly concerned about those 2nd round selections :banghead: :banghead:

The Nuggets have six players scheduled for a session on Monday, according to a story on the team’s website. Expected to attend are Idaho’s Brayon Blake, Georgetown’s Marcus Derrickson, UNLV’s Brandon McCoy, USC’s Jordan McLaughlin, Wake Forest’s Doral Moore and Northern Colorado’s Andre Spight.

I think your head-banging describes it all. 2nd round picks are a crap shoot and there will be at least 60-100 players that some team thinks they might want in the 2nd round. No one knows who is going to be available for their pick in the 2nd round. Why waste the money? Just give it a shot based on your scouts (if you have decent ones).

We reportedly never worked out Murray and worked out Mudiay twice so I am not really sure that it matter a whole lot for the 1st round. Especially when I am pretty sure that the pick is getting traded.

Finalized my top 15:

1. Luca Doncic (James Harden W/ a slower first step)
2. Mo Bamba (Rudy Gobert W/ a high offensive ceiling)
3. Jaren Jackson Jr. (Tristan Thompson W/ a 3 point shot & shot blocking)
4. DeAndre Ayton (DeMarcus Cousins W/O the defense)
5. Michael Porter Jr (Rudy Gay W/ a Kevin Durant ceiling and a less athletic Andrew Wiggins floor)
6. Trae Young (Smaller, harder to hide on defense Steph Curry)
7. Wendell Carter (Al Horford W/O the passing)
8. Marvin Bagley (Amare Stoudemire W/ less offensive skill)
9. Mikal Bridges (Shorter Otto Porter)
10. Robert Williams (Less athletic DeAndre Jordan)
11. Keita Bates-Diop (Wilson Chandler W/ a bigger wingspan)
12. Zhaire Smith (Defensive minded Zach LaVine W/O the offensive skill)
13. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (PG Kyle Anderson)
14. Miles Bridges (A more athletic, less physical Morris twin)
15. Melvin Frazier (Longer Andre Roberson)

Dont think Luka is Harden type, he is more all around player I think, not score first type of player like Harden. More like Manu for me but could have better PPG as 1a, 1b option.

Musa will have workout with us, could see him becoming better than Gallo if Hess can help him, with his "frame", and I wouldnt mind this McCoy or what his name is that had workout with us in 2nd round

Harden led the league in assists a couple years ago didn’t he? There’s no really good comparison for luka. He has the shooting, the 1 on 1 moves off the dribble and the passing, but he’s not a great athlete. You could call him a shorter, much less athletic lebron, a taller, slower harden, worse defensive Paul George.... none are perfect.

I’d put bridges higher than, say carter if it were purely nuggets specific. But as a nuggets fan, prospects are probably subconsciously filtered through “how would they fit on the nuggets”

Hess doesn't work for the Nuggets anymore.

How, isnt he still something like consultant, for them?

He is a consultant, Eichenberger is the new strength and conditioning guy.

Two Bosnians are on workouts today, Penava and Musa, why not pick them both? :P

If we made a trade which includes late 1st round pick, Musa is a legit contender, especially because he is SF. Penava is one of the options for our #58 2nd round pick.

Never got this, but...Lets say its our turn to draft, and all lotto SFs are already drafted, why not just draft player you like? Sure, if we csn get rid of Farieds contract and go back few spots and still draft SF 'm all for it, but if you cant do that why not just draft player you like even if he is projected to go late 1st or early 2nd..

Of course, that is a legit strategy. Position spot and how much team need it is just one of many factors, and in Musa-Denver case his SF spot is something very positive. But if our FO thinks there are better players left at #14, they will take them, except probably in centers case.

You only get to use draft value once a year. If you have a guy as the 14th best player and the rest of the league has him 25th, you have 2 choices.

1. Take him at 14 and hope you’re right.
2. Trade back, add the value of the difference in picks to your roster and take the guy at, say, 22.

Many many bad GMs have been fired because they thought they were the only smart GM in the league that sees talent in a guy. 99% of the time, the majority is right.

Yeah, that didn't work out too well last year. Lyles has value but Lydon is redundant behind Lyles & Hernangomez and we surely could have used Anunoby.

We could tell right away that was bad value. Last year lyles should’ve moved us to about 20. Ending up with lyles and OG would’ve made the Donovan Mitchell breakout bearable.

Return to Denver Nuggets
